Another Top Atlanta OT Likes Michigan

The Atlanta area has been an unlikely pipeline for Michigan offensive tackles: Jeff Backus a few years ago, and Jeremy Ciulla in this just-signed class. Now, one of the Top 5 junior OT's is from Atlanta -- and Michigan is right at the top for him! He's been to U-M before, and intends to return. We talked to him last night.

Lovejoy, Georgia's Chris Scott is considered the top junior offensive tackle prospect in the South, and one of the top five-or-so OT's overall. He was one of the 'Big Three' offensive tackles at the recent U.S. Army Combine (along with Illinois' Dan Doering and N.J.'s Eugene Monroe), where his stats were: 6-4 1/2, 316 lbs., 5.83 in the 40, 15 bench press reps.

We learned at the combine that Scott has a serious interest in Michigan. Our conversation with him last night confirmed that! Chris told us:

"Florida State and Michigan are my top two schools. Then Georgia -- they've offered me. Tennessee has offered me too, and I'm also looking at Auburn, Oklahoma, and others."

What appeals to you about Michigan?

"I went up there for an unofficial visit last fall -- for the Notre Dame game. And I loved it -- the players and coaches, the stadium and the crowd. All of it. I really liked it a lot."

What is it about Michigan that made you want to go up there?

"It's Michigan's tradition. Michigan has the tradition of producing great offensive linemen, and of putting a lot of them into the NFL. And they've get a tradition of getting linemen from down here in Atlanta. I know they signed Jeremy Ciulla this year."

So do you plan to return to Ann Arbor?

"Yes. I'm going to the Michigan Camp next summer."
