Michigan Offers 2nd Conway S.C. Star

Earlier in the week GBW interviewed wideout Eric Huggins from Conway, S.C. The day after we interviewed Eric he got back to us and told us that he'd received a Michigan scholarship offer. Now his defensive end teammate Hivera Greene has received good Wolverine news as well!

Hivera Greene is a big (6-5, 260 lbs.) and fast (4.75 in the 40) defensive end from Conway, South Carolina. And like his teammate Eric Huggins (WR, 6-3, 186 lbs., 4.5 in the 40) a few days before him, Greene just got some exciting news from Michigan.

Hivera, Michigan has offered you a scholarship?

"Yes, Michigan offered me -- just yesterday as a matter of fact. I called and talked to Coach Campbell and to the defensive line coach, Coach Sheridan. And they told me I had a scholarship offer. Then my coach called Coach Carr and confirmed the offer. When my coach relayed the confirmation to me ... 'it was magic." And then, like Reggie Youngblood the night before, the personable Hivera chuckled with 'pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming' delight.

What is it that you like about Michigan?

"Well, I don't have any Michigan connections. But it's the chance to play in front of all those people in the Big House, and the chance to be publiziced on television every game ..."

Who else has offered you?

"Clemson, Auburn yesterday as well, and Tennessee."

Who's at the top for you now?

"I don't have one top school right now. But I have a top four -- in no certain order Michigan, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Auburn."

Eric Huggins (Greene's WR teammate, click here for our interview with him earlier this week) also has a Michigan offer. Are you two going to try to get up to Michigan together?

"Yeah, Chris got his offer pretty much the same way I did. He and I are planning on taking a flight out to Michigan on our spring break, two weeks from now. We were going to go this weekend, but it was too quick to make arrangements. It'll be towards the end of next week. When is Michigan's Spring Game? The 10th? Great! That's it then -- we'll fly up for that. Mohammed Massaquoi (Massaquoi, from Charlotte, N.C., is the WR cousin of Wolverine Tim -- stay tuned for our interview with Masssaquoi tomorrow as U-M has offered him as well) might join us too."

Greene (along with Huggins) has attended junior days at Tennessee (where they got to know Massaquoi), N.C. State and Clemson, and plans to go to Georgia for a Junior Day as well. He would like to attend the N.C. State, Clemson and Tennessee spring games and has talked of summer camping at Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia and Oklahoma.

As a junior Greene recorded 134 tackles, five sacks, four deflected passes, and five forced fumbles.
