Top CB Grew Up a Michigan Fan

One of the nation's top five junior cornerbacks grew up rooting for the Maize and Blue. Does that translate to a recruiting advantage for Michigan?'s #3 cornerback is Athlete Victor Harris (6-0, 186 lbs., 4.45 in the 40, 2.8 GPA) from Highland Springs, Va. As a junior running back "Macho" Harris rushed for 2,210 yards and 37 touchdowns as a running back; as a cornerback on defense he made 45 tackles and eight interceptions. He was named a first-team Class 3A selection as both a defensive back and a tailback while helping lead the his team to a 9-2 record.

We talked with Harris Friday Friday afternoon.

I hear you're taking the SAT tomorrow (Saturday)?

"Yes sir. I prepared for it so I'm ready for it."

Do you have an interest in U-M?

"Yes sir."

Has Michigan offered you a scholarship?

"Yes sir. I forget what coach I talked to ... it was not Coach Carr. It was Coach Campbell -- he offered me over the phone, and he talked to my coach and told him as well."

Who else has offered you?

"Virginia and Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Penn State, UCLA , Maryland, Kansas St, Syracuse, Clemson, West Virginia ..."

We hear you grew up watching Michigan and Miami on TV? You were a Michigan fan?

"Yes sir. As a kid I used to follow Michigan -- I'd watch them on TV all the time. I liked how they'd go to the National Championship game. And I liked their colors, and their helmets."

"But right now I have no favorites. I'm just open. I'm thinking about what I want to take up in college and will see how different schools fit into that."

What position is Michigan recruiting you for?

"I'm not sure of that ... a little running back and a little cornerback ... they are recruiting me for both sides of the ball."

Have you ever been to the state of Michigan?

"Have I ever been there? Not, but Im going to try to get up there."

Will distance from home be a factor for you?

"No sir, distance will not play a factor."

Have you decided on spring or summer camps?

"I attended a Junior Day at North Carolina in February, but I don't have any other visits or camps planned at this time."
