Texas' Top CB Gets Michigan Surprise

Cornerback Quinton Moore from Pearland (Houston area) Texas was taking the Texas standardized test yesterday when the word got to him ...

Quinton Moore (5-10 1/2, 180 lbs., 4.4 in the 40, 36 inch vertical jump, 2.5 GPA) is considered the top cornerback prospect in Texas. So we decided to check in with him last night (Tues.).

Quinton, has Michigan been to your high school to see you?

"You're a reporter for a Michigan magazine? I was told that a Michigan coach was here at my school today! But I didn't see him! I was taking the TAKS test (the Texas year-end standardized test) so I didn't actually get to meet the coach. But some of my friends came up to me during the day and said, 'Michigan is here!"

What was your reaction when you heard that?

"I was like, 'Are you kidding!' I was excited! Who wouldn't be? Do I have a lot of interest in Michigan? Of course!"

Who has offered you so far?

"I have two offers, from Oklahoma State and Arizona. As far as other schools I'm interested in, I went to a Texas Junior Day."

If Michgan comes through with an offer for you, would you take one of your official visits there?

"If Michigan offers me I would I would really try to get up there, and take an official visit there. I've never been to Michigan, but I do have family in Detroit."

Moore has a reputation of being a cornerback who hits like a linebacker. So we asked him:

What is your strong suit as a player?

"Well, I do like to hit!"

Moore also told Allen Wallace of TheInsiders/SuperPrep last week: "I have great speed and quickness. I jump good and I'm real athletic. I react fast to the ball and go wherever the ball is. I want to improve both my leg strength and upper body (245 lb. bench press), so I can tackle better and throw blockers off easier. I also want to be more explosive."

Moore reports his junior stats as: 100 tackles and two interceptions for touchdowns. Moore also runs track, and reports a 10.5 sec. 100 meters to his credit.
