Another Combine QB Gets Wolverine Offer

The top quarterback performersat three of the Nike combines received Michigan offers soon after. Number three got his yesterday! This one was the San Diego Nike's top signal-caller. GoBlueWolverine talked to him and got the news last night!

For those keeping score: Rob Schoenhoft was the top QB at the OSU Nike Camp, and the three-time Michigan Camper received a U-M offer five days later. Ditto Greg Boone from the Virginia Nike Camp (Greg is an 'athlete' type, and we are still working on getting his phone number to confirm the offer). And LSU Nike MVP Ryan Perrilloux has had a U-M offer for a while now.

And here's another. Last night we reached the top QB at the San Diego Nike. A couple U-M assistant coaches were in attendance to watch him in person -- and once again, a week later a scholarship offer was forthcoming.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez, from Mission Viego, Calif. had Nike stats of: 6-3 1/2, 211 lbs., 4.35 sec. shuttle, 31.8 inch vertical jump. He scratched his 40 time, but has been listed with a 4.85 sec. 40.

He was easily the top QB at the SDST Nike Camp, with quick feet and a good, accurate arm. BTW, he didn't look that much like his picture above -- he sported long-ish, curly, free-flowing locks!

We talked to Sanchez last night, and got a little surprise when he told us:

"Michigan offered me a scholarship today!"

"I talked to Coach Carr and Coach Loeffler. They said they were real interested in me, that I fit their mold as a quarterback."

"I knew Coach Loeffler was watching me at the San Diego Nike Camp - he was easy to spot - and he said I looked really good, that I had good feet, and that I really made a name for myself there. He said he came back from the Nike Camp and they watched my film."

"And Coach Carr said they were offering a full scholarship to Michigan!"

Has a Michigan coach been in your school yet?

"No. They said they'd make a trip to my school next week."

What schools have offered you now?

"Since the Nike Camp I've gotten offers from Michigan, Texas and USC -- I went to a one-day camp at SC this past weekend. And I also have offers from Stanford, Nebrasks, Arizona, Duke, Rutgers ..."

Are you going to go to any summer camps?

"At this point, I'm camped out. I'd like to take unofficial visits to the schools that have offered me though."

Have you decided on any official visits yet?

"Ummmm, not yet. Michigan is definitely in the running for a visit though."

As a junior Sanchez passed for 2,460 yards (he was 161/215, a 75 percent completion rate), 29 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. He was named first team all-league, all-county, and all-CIF. He also has a 3.66 GPA.
