TheInsidersHoops.com’s Dave Telep reported earlier today that Hairston had cut his list down to three schools. The Detroit Renaissance star informed GBW that an even more significant cut had been made this evening.
“I’ve made my decision,” Hairston said. “I’m going to allow it to marinate for a day, inform the coaches tomorrow, and have a press conference at 4pm on Wednesday at Renaissance.”
Hairston declined to reveal whom (out of Kansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and UCLA) the lucky school was, but seemed relieved that the process was nearing its end. There has been much speculation regarding which teams have remained players in this process. More specifically, there has been significant lip service given to the notion that Michigan was out of the equation. Malik’s dad, Richard, dispelled that rumor this weekend when he told us, “I know Coach Amaker probably thinks we’re picking on him because we asked him some more tough questions today (Saturday), but that’s not the case. He and Michigan are right there in the thick of it.”
How in the thick of it the Wolverines actually were remains to be seen.
