Last week's Nikes: Pipho, PSU So.'s, Instate QB's

Will Ia. Nike attendee OL <b>Matt Pipho</b> camp at U-M this summer?<p> Last year, Justins King & Shifano were top PSU Nike performers -- who were this year's top undergrads (and will one camp at U-M)?<p> And scouting reports on two instate Elite 11 tryout performers: <b>Mikhail Eisler</b> and <b>Chad Somerville</b>.

- Offensive lineman Matt Pipho (Ia. Nike stats: 6-6, 270 lbs., 5.19 sec in the forty, 4.66 sec in the shuttle, 26 bench press reps, and a 31 inch vertical ... 3.9 GPA/29 ACT) from La Porte City Union, Ia. was a top Iowa Nike performer (see our two scouting report on him: report #1, report #2 ). We asked Matt whether U-M has been in contact in the spring evaluation period, and whether he was planning on coming to the U-M Camp.

"Michigan visited my school recently. And they called me on the phone as well."

"Will I go the the Michigan Camp. Yeah. possibly ... probably."

Stay tuned for Sam Webb's interview with Pipho.

PSU Nike soph. performers of note:

The top performer overall? Soph. running back LeSean McCoy (PSU Nike stats: 5-10, 193 lbs., 4.25 in the 40, 4.1 sec. shuttle, 35 inch vertical) from Harrisburg, Penn., Bishop McDevitt. We talked to McCoy after the camp, and he mentioned Michigan, Miami and USC. -- and will he come to the U-M Camp? Stay tuned for Sam Webb's interview.

Soph. defensive back/linebacker Myron Rolle (PSU Nike stats: 6-2, 210 lbs., 4.53 in the 40, 34.4 inch vertical, 4.0 GPA) from The Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey (Jeff Zuttah's school).

Soph. quarterback Pat Devlin (6-3, 200 lbs., 4.8 in the 40) from Downingtown East, Penn.

At Sunday's post-Iowa Nike Elite 11 tryout, the state of Michigan was represented by three QB's: Evan Sharpley (who we're profiled over the past two days) -- and two others.

- Mikhail Eisler (Planned '04 U-M Camper, 6-4+, 200+ lbs.) from Holt, Mich. Eisler suffered an ACL his junior year, and is wearing a knee brace. He appeared at the OSU Nike Camp a month ago, and was quite hindered by the knee/knee brace. At the Elite 11 tryout Sunday his mobility was noticably improved from the OSU Nike Camp. Eisler is tall and has natural ability -- once he gets 'back in the saddle' 100% his senior year he could develop into a fine Div. 1 college prospect.

Chad Somerville (6-3, 175 lbs.) from Mason, Mich. Chad is thin -- but he is 'wiry-thin', and the kid has a big-time arm! And accuracy, and decent mobility -- a good total package. And at a true 6-3, he has the enviable requisite-college-QB-height. He was our surprise performer of the tryout. We believe that as he develops physically he WILL be a Div. 1 college quarterback.
