Afutiti Receives First Offer. U-M Still Near Top

Defensive lineman Bernard Afutiti from Kaiser High School in Fontana, Calif. listed Michigan as an early favorite. GoBlueWolverine Magazine spoke Thursday with Afutiti and he reports his first offer. Has he heard from the Wolverines as well?

"Oregon State has offered," Bernard Afutiti said. "They're the only ones right now."

The 6 foot 1, 225 pound Afutiti had Michigan as an early favorite. "I don't know if Michigan has been by my school yet," he said. "Iowa, Utah, Nebraska, Cal, and a bunch of others have come by."

The offer from Oregon State moves the Beavers way up on the favorite list. "Michigan and Oregon State are my favorites," Afutiti said. "I also like Washington, Nebraska, and Penn State."

When GBW first spoke with Afutiti in March he expressed a desire to play in the cold. "I actually prefer playing in the cold rather than where it's hot," he said. He also attended the Michigan camp last summer and told us he enjoyed the experience.

Afutiti said he is planning on attending the Stanford Nike Camp this Saturday. GoBlueWolverine Magazine will be there and will have more coverage of Afutiti and others.
