Zirbel a Hot Commodity

At one time it was thought that Cory Zirbel was a likely candidate for a summer decision, but no longer looks to be the case. GBW talked to Cory’s dad yesterday and he filled us in on where things stand.

At 6-7 305 lbs., it’s hard to imagine how Murray Kentucky offensive lineman Cory Zirbel could float below the radar, but that’s what he did for much of the spring. However, things certainly have changed over the past few months! His offer total shot up in the twenties very quickly. His most recent tender was earned with an impressive camp performance down south.

“The Miami camp went really well for him,” said Mr. Zirbel early yesterday. “They said that they are going to be offering him a scholarship.” The Hurricanes followed through and became the 26th team to do so. With the offers piling up at a rapid pace, Zirbel is going to take some time to weigh his options. “He’s probably going to wait,” Mr. Zirbel said in response to whether Cory would decide in the summer. “I think that’s what he’s thinking right now.”

Next on the agenda for Zirbel is his second trip to Ann Arbor this year (he was in town for the spring game). “We’ll be coming up Saturday evening,” Mr. Zirbel said. “He’ll stay through Thursday so he’ll be there for the entire camp.” GBW will catch up with Cory again after camp.
