Moosman Home From Camp; Zirbel On Long Road Trip

Ill. offensive lineman David Moosman had a U-M offer coming into camp, and he camped two days, Monday and Tuesday. We talked to David this afternoon about his experience, about what's next for him, and about his friendship with fellow OL camper Cory Zirbel. And we also talked to Zirbel's father.

Libertyville, Ill. offensive lineman David Moosman, at 6-4, 260 lbs., is not going to win many speed races with his 5.3-ish 40 time, but he's a mauler (360+ lb. bench press) with reportedly very quick feet.

We asked him this afternoon about his U-M camp experience.

"It was fun ... I wish there was a little more hitting, but the states of Michigan, Indiana and Ohio forbid that. But Coach Moeller (Andy Moeller, U-M's offensive line coach) was very helpful to me -- he really helped me with my technique."

How did you and Cory Zirbel (Kent. O-lineman who is camping for the whole week) get along?

"We became good friends; we hung out together. I think Cory really likes Michigan ... he wanted a scholarship offer from Michigan which he received. He really relaxed and had fun after that."

What's next for you, David?

"I'm going to Notre Dame's camp next Tuesday, then we hold a kid's camp here at my school. I already camped at Wisconsin last week, and Iowa the week before that."

"Those are basically my top four schools."

When do you think you'll decide?

"I don't know yet. I don't really feel pressured. I know Michigan only has a certain amount of scholarships. But they told me they are interested in me so I think they'll let me know if they are running out and I have to make a decision."

And regarding Cory Zirbel, the 6-6, 285 lb. offensive tackle with good sub-5.2 speed from Murray, Kent. We talked to Cory's father this afternoon, and he told us:

"Cory will camp at Michigan until it ends tomorrow noon. Then he gets right on a plane to go to Ohio State, and from there he's visiting Wisconsin and Minnesota. He won't get home until the 4th of July."
