The Northeast Secret Is Out

GBW continues to add names to add names to the hoops target list. This time the newcomer is 6-9 195 lb. Kendric Price from Buckingham Browne Nichols School in Cambridge Massachusetts. The talented forward has outstanding perimeter skills for his size and Michigan is a serious player in his recruitment.

Kendric Price, who averaged 19 points and 9.5 board last season, is considered by many pundits to be one of the top players in the northeast region. His uncanny perimeter shooting ability really set him apart from many players his size. New England Playaz (Price’s AAU team) Coach Mike Jarvis Jr. made mention of his pupil’s strengths in an earlier interview with "He's a smart kid who is great academically and is just starting to really learn the game," Jarvis told TheInsiders. "He’s got great upside. He just needs to work on his ball-handling skills and personal strength. He’s got to learn to play inside and out."

I spoke with Kendric recently and he filled GBW in on just where Michigan stands in his recruitment.

How long have you been interested in Michigan?

“I’ve been interested in Michigan for while…since the days of the Fab Five. They’ve been one of the storied schools.”

How long have they been in contact with you?

“Since the spring. I’ve spoken with Coach Ramsey and Coach Amaker.”

What position do you play in high school?

“On my high school team I play the 3 and the 4. I had to play the 4 because our big man got injured.”

What are you looking to play in college?

“I’m looking to play the three.”

For those that haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?

“I’m athletic, can shoot, and can pass…I can basically do it all, but I think the thing that really stands out is how well I can shoot. I’m not like most guys that can just dunk because they’re 6-9.”

Is there a player in college or the pros that you would compare yourself to?

“Some people might say Kevin Garnett, but I like Jonathan Bender.”

What the top schools on your list at this point?

“Right now I like Michigan, Syracuse, and Georgia.”

What are going to be some of the factors that go into your decision?

“The whole package of academics, athletics, and the music program they have.”

Have you visited any schools yet?

“Yeah, I’ve visited Connecticut, Providence, and URI.”

Will you take anymore anytime soon?

“No, not this summer.”

Do you think that you’ll visit Michigan?

“Yeah. If they offer me an official visit I’ll definitely take it.”

What camps and tournaments will you be in this summer?

“I’ll be playing Playaz Ball, Super 64, and a tournament in LA with my AAU team and I’ll be attending the Adidas camp in Georgia.”

GBW will continue to keep tabs on Price. Make sure you keep track of the Basketball Recruitng Primer for the most complete and up to date list of targets and links to all previous GBW stories on them. It will be refreshed in the coming days.
