We hold to our assumption that U-M would like a quarterback in the 04/05 recruiting class. Here is a new list of possibilities.
2004 Michigan Campers:
- Quarterback Jason Forcier (One-day '04 U-M Camper, 6-2, 205 lbs., Nike stats: 4.55 in the 40, 4.34 sec. shuttle, 27.9 inch vertical jump ... 3.0 GPA/1080 SAT) from San Diego St. Augustine. Jason camed at U-M and Notre Dame last month. He was involved in the recent flurry of QB commitments (click on his name and read the mid-July reports on him), but he is still available -- although he'd like to make a summer decision. Jason was a 2002 U-M camper, and attended the 2003 OSU game. His dad is from Michigan and Jason grew up a U-M fan. Forcier has excellent foot speed and a fine arm. As a junior (at Santa Ana Mater Dei) he passed for 1,370 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 801 yards and eight touchdowns.
- Quarterback Mike Greco (2-day Mon./Tues. '04 U-M Camper, 6-3, 200 lbs., 4.4 in the 40) from Ft. Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons. The wiry left-handed signal-caller had amazing stats at this past April's Miami NIKE Camp: 6-3, 200 lbs., a 4.37 sec. 40, a 3.9 sec. shuttle, a 33 inch vertical, and 16 bench press reps of 185 lbs. As of last report, in June prior to the U-M Camp, he listed NC-State, Florida State and Miami, plus Auburn (offer), and Michigan. He also had an offer from Iowa. And he'd indicated that he'd be patient and see who eventually offered him. As a junior Greco, who plays in a running-based offense, threw for 820 yards, ran for 350, and scored 11 touchdowns.
An early U-M offer:
- Quarterback/Athlete Greg Boone (Vir. Nike stats: 6-4, 257 lbs., 4.6 in the 40) from Chesapeake, Va., Oscar Smith. His recruiting journey is not advanced -- he has not camped anywhere this summer because he's going to summer school to raise an English grade. He had an early (spring) U-M offer as an athlete. As a junior quarterback Boone completed 75 passes out of 140 attempts for 1,400 yards, 14 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions; he also rushed for 350 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. And he also plays on defense -- as a defensive back, recording 48 tackles and 5 interceptions.
A Deep South prospect coming back from injury:
- Quarterback Brice Beck (6-4, 225 lbs., 4.8 in the 40) from Blytheville, Ark. Beck camped this summer in the South -- Memphis, Missouri, Alabama, Ole Miss and (we believe) Arkansas, and has one offer so far, from East Carolina. He has mentioned Michigan State more than U-M. Beck threw for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore but missed nearly all of his junior campaign due to a dislocated throwing shoulder.
