Marques Slocum Home From Road Trip

Philadelphia Defensive/offensive tackle Marques Slocum has been on an extensive road trip the past week, and the first stop was Ann Arbor.

Philadelphia Defensive/offensive tackle Marques Slocum (PSU Nike stats: 6-6, 330 lbs., 5.09 in the 40 ... 300 lb. bench press) got home late Sunday night from a long road trip this past week. GoBlueWolverine has spoken briefly to Slocum's mother about the trip a couple times, including Sunday evening.

Mrs. Slocum said, "It's a long driving trip, with Marques' new coach, Coach Fluck, and two of his new teammates (including fellow Div. 1 prospect Derrell Hand, 6-3, 305 lbs.) -- they'd flown down to Miami on an earlier trip, but this time they got in the car and drove."

Slocum has transferred from Philadelphia St. John Neumann (whose coach was fired) to Philadelphia West Catholic for his senior year.

According to Mrs. Slocum, Michigan was the first stop last Sunday night and Monday, where Marcus met with Coach Carr and the other Michigan ccoaches and players and, "After Michigan, they went to Michigan State, Notre Dame, Purdue. Then they went all the way out to Utah, and then they went down to Georgia Tech as well."

Marcus has 30 offers, including from Michigan, and after GBW watched him at the PSU Nike Camp it was easy to see why. Working out as a defensive tackle, he was quick, massively strong, and scary-unstopable ... a man amongst boys.

We expect Michigan to get an official visit from Marcus. One caveat -- he does have some work to do to get his academics in order. In the spring he told GBW that his core GPA was a 1.8.

We'll have more on Marcus soon.
