James McKinney Updates Visit Plans

When GoBlueWolverine Magazine last spoke with defensive lineman James McKinney he talked about coming up to Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit to the Minnesota game. GBW contacted McKinney Thursday evening to see if plans to come were still on, and about his overall visit plans.

Standout defensive lineman James McKinney recently told Jamie Newburg of TheInsiders that Michigan, Notre Dame, and Louisville were the top three schools he was looking at, and that Michigan was " ... a home away from home for me." Thursday evening he confirmed this statement with GoBlueWolverine Magazine. "Yeah, that's about right," he said.

The last time we spoke with the talented four-star prospect he said he wanted to visit his home away from home for two games, one being this Saturday's clash with Minnesota. A recent bout with the flu may keep the big man home for the weekend. "I'm not sure yet," he said. "I'm feeling better but we'll see how it is tomorrow (Friday) night after my game. If I feel ok I may go but it will be a last minute decision." The Yellowjacket travel to Doss Friday night.

Central dropped their first two games but have roared back to a four-game winning streak with three of being shutouts. McKinney missed the first game with a sore back.

Besides the Minnesota game, the 6 foot 3, 263-pound McKinney also stated earlier that he planned to attend the Oct. 30 game against Michigan State. Those plans are still on, but he did tweak his official visit schedule a bit. "I was going to visit Nebraska and Clemson during the season," he said. "But I cancelled those and will take all of my visits after my season is over. I think I'm going to visit Michigan the first or second week of December."

This past September McKinney was invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to be held in January at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
