The Minnesota Game

Unofficial visits: Top seniors:

- Athlete (WR/DB/QB) Antonio Bass (Possible Sept 25 Iowa Game visit, 6-1, 190 lbs., 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA/21 ACT) from Jackson, Mich. He made an unofficial visit for the Oct. 9 Minn. game. He made a Labor Day weekend official visit to Virginia Tech, and it's very close between U-M and V-Tech ... but he told GBW on Oct. 8 that U-M has the slight edge. He may also make official visits to Notre Dame and Florida, plus MSU. He attended the late July U-M Junior Academic Day. He is also working out with former U-M great Stan Edwards' track team. He is TheInsiders' #50 prospect.

- (Commitment #9) OC/OG prospect Tim McAvoy ('04 U-M Camper, 6-5, 250 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 3.3 GPA/24 ACT) from Bloomington, Ill. A TE in high school, McAvoy worked out at O-line at the U-M Camp. He was offered in early August, and committed Aug, 3. Tim's dad played for Gary Moeller at Illinois.

- Commitment #6: defensive end/outside linebacker Chris McLaurin ('04 U-M Camper, 6-4, 230 lbs., 4.80 {electronic} in the 40) from Orchard Lake, Mich., St. Mary's. He won a U-M camp offer and committed soon after. He'd also attended U-M for the MSU basketball game this past winter. As a junior the sleek and fast defensive end made 50 tackles and 9 1/2 sacks.

Possible Recruits:
- LB Terrance Blevins (6-1, 235 lbs.) from Detroit Denby.
- Jumbo Ath. Carson Butler (6-5, 230 lbs.) from Detroit Renaissance.
- DL Trevor Anderson (6-2, 250 lbs.) from Detroit Crockett.
- DB Donathan Woods (5-11, 165 lbs.) from Fort Wayne, Ind., Southside.
- TE Kenlon Fuller (6-4, 240 lbs.) from Saginaw, Mich.
- LM Isiaah Mims (6-2, 270 lbs.) from Haslett, Mich.

At Least Three Very-Top Juniors
- Jr. CB Darrin Walls (6-1, 195 lbs.) from Pittsburgh Woodland Hills, the alma mater of Steve Breaston and Ryan Mundy. Walls is a friend of Mundy and Breaston of course, he's considered a top Pa. Jr., and ... we have confirmed with a family friend that U-M is his favorite. He was supposed to attend the Iowa game but was a no-show, so it was good to see him at the game this week. He and his family were all decked out in U-M garb! Iws Walls on the same level as BReaston and Mundy were as a high school prospect? We are hearing, "Yes." He is not LIKE either Breaston or Mundy because he is a CB, not a S (like Mundy) or QB/WR (like BReaston). We are told he has great speed, top notch cover skills, and will hit you!
- Jr. quarterback Mike Hartline ('04 U-M Camper, 6-5, 190 lbs.) from Canton, Oh., Glen Oak. He is considered one of the 2 top Ohio Jr. QB's, and was a 2004 U-M Camper. Note, Brian's older brother WR Brian was VERY interested in U-M this spring but did not receive a U-M offer and committed to OSU.
- Jr RB/DB Derek Brighton (6-1, 175 lbs.) from Allen Park, Mich. He is considered one of the top 10 Jrs. in the state.

- Jr WR Damon Pledger (6-3, 190) from Detroit Finney. He has attended every U-M home game so far.
- Jr. RB/FB Obi Ezeh (6-1, 220 lbs.) from Grand Rapids, Mich., Catholic Central. He also attended the SDST game.
- Two juniors from Brighton: PK Jay Jandesak (5-11, 185 lbs) and LB Matt Geisow (5-10, 200 lbs).

At least one top Soph.
- Ath. Dionte Allen (6-0, 170 lbs.) from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's. Dionte is at least one of the top 5 sophs. in the state ... if not THE top.
- Soph. running back Jeremiah Mimms (6-2, 200 lbs.) from Tenn.

Scheduled Visits: the Oct. 29 MSU game visits

Official Visits Scheduled:

First, here is the 'mystery visitor': QB Jonathan Crompton (6-4, 215 lbs.) from Waynesville, N.C. Scout.com's #82 prospect is a Tenn. commitment, but the Vols are playing TWO freshman QB's this year ...

- Cornerback/running back Victor Harris (Oct. 29 MSU game official visit, 6-0, 185 lbs., 4.45 in the 40, 2.8 GPA) from Highland Springs, Vir. grew up a U-M (and Miami) fan. As of early Sept. U-M and the home state schools may lead. He has a Halloween bye week -- might he visit for the MSU game? His final six are: Maryland, Miami, Michigan (Oct. 30 MSU game offic. visit), USC (Oct. 16), Virginia and Virginia Tech (Dec. 11). He is TheInsiders' #25 prospect.

- Safety/linebacker Nick Harris (Oct. 29 MSU game official visit, LSU Nike stats: 6-2 1/2, 209 lbs., 35 inch vertial jump, 4.2 sec. shuttle, 12 bench press reps.) from Alexandria, Louisiana. He is making an official visit Oct. 29 for the MSU game. U-M is in his top two or three with LSU (camp, Nov. 20 official visit, leader?), A&M (camp, Sept. 17 official visit); he also has official visits scheduled to Nebraska (Nov. 26) and Oklahoma (Sept. 10). Note: don't call him linebacker! He wants to play safety!

Planned Unofficial Visitors:

- The once-and-hopefully-future commitment: Defensive lineman James McKinney ('04 U-M Camper, US Army Combine stats: 6-1 1/2, 274 lbs., 5.10 in the 40, 14 bench press reps., 24 1/2 inch vertical jump, 2.7 GPA/17 ACT) from Louisville, Kent., Central. He plans unofficial visits to U-M for the Minnesota game. He is NOT going to graduate in Dec. He will make official visits to Michigan (Dec.), Clemson (Nov. 19), Nebraska (Nov. 26) and Oklahoma (Dec. 10). In late Aug. he told the Louisville Courier-Journal that U-M still leads. McKinney was a full week U-M camper, and worked out at both tight end and defensive lineman. McKinney and another top U-M recruit, Ky. LB Brandon Logan, are cousins. He is TheInsiders #75 prospect, and has been chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game.

- James McKinney's cousin, linebacker Brandon Logan (‘02 & ‘03 U-M Camper, US Army Combine stats: 6-0, 189 lbs., 4.72 in the 40, 11 bench press reps., 26 inch vertical jump, 2.5 GPA/17 ACT) from Lexington, Kent., Catholic. He plans to attend the MSU game for an unofficial visit. As of late Sept. U-M leads for him, followed by Tennessee and Clemson (fall offic. visits, along with U-M) as well as Florida, Kentucky, Louisville. Brandon did not attend the '04 U-M Camp because of a hamstring injury, but he is a two-time Michigan Camper. He attended a 2004 Spring Practice. He is TheInsiders' #72 South prospect.

- Offensive lineman David Moosman (Dec. 10 official visit, '04 U-M Camper, 6-3, 260 lbs., 5.3 in the 40, 360 lb. bench press, 2.9 GPA/26 ACT) from Libertyville, Ill. Moosman plans to attend the U-M/MSU game. David, Dan Doering and Dace Richardson all attended the U-M/Notre Dame game. In early Oct. he said Wisconsin (camp, Dec. 3 official visit) and Michigan (Dec. 10; camp) both lead slightly over Iowa (Dec. 17; camp), Notre Dame (Jan. 15; camp) and UCLA (late Jan.; he has family in LA). He'll make a late decision. He is TheInsiders #17 Midwest prospect.
