David Lighty Talks About Michigan Visit

The Michigan football program has had experienced success recruiting at Cleveland Villa Angela - St Joseph High School in the past. Former greats Desmond Howard and Elvis Grbac both hail from that school. How would you describe your game for those that haven't seen you play?


You visited Michigan for the homecoming game this past weekend. How was it and what did you do while on campus?

"Yes, It very nice. I didn't play in an open gym or anything. We just talked to some of the admissions people and some of the coaches. I came up with my parents. I had been there before, but my mom hadn't. She liked it a lot."

What do you plan to major in?

"Probably architecture or engineering."

What schools besides Michigan are you hearing from?

"Ohio State, Syracuse, Florida."

Have any of those teams offered you a scholarship?

"Yes. Syracuse Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan."

Have any of those coaches been by your school yet?

"All of them have been by. Coach Amaker came down. Coach (Andy) Moore came down too."

At one point you reported growing up a big Michigan fan, but a recent report indicated that you grew up liking Syracuse and that they were the team that stuck out on your list at this point. Which is the case?

"I like a lot of teams (laughing). I really don't have a favorite team. Everybody is even right now."

What are going to be the most significant factors in your choice?

"The environment, the style of play, and who I'm playing with."

Are you familiar with any of the guys on Michigan's team currently?

"A little bit."

Do you have a timetable for making your decision?

"Probably about this time next year."

Do you think you'll make it back up to Michigan for a visit this season?

"Yes, It will probably be after the New Year."

Do you have any other visits set at this point?

"No not really."
