Ohio Big Man Has Michigan Interest

Earlier this week GBW spoke with Solon (OH) high head coach Todd Van Reeth about rising sophomore Dallas Lauderdale. The 6-9 big man has established himself as one of the top prospects in the Class of 07. He turned heads last year as a freshman on both his high school and AAU squads (he teams with UM target David Lighty during the AAU season). Lauderdale is potential visitor for the maize and blue scrimmage this weekend and Coach VanReeth was kind enough to briefly profile his star pupil.

Tell us a little about Dallas as a player.

"He's a 6-9 225 sophomore. He started for us last year as a freshman. He's a skilled kid. He has good feet, good hands, and runs well. Last year he averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds, and almost 2 blocks per game."

Where do you project him in college?

"He's probably a college 4. He game is expanding such that he could probably play the three some day."

Have many schools contacted you about him?

"Yes. By the time it's all said and done he could probably choose wherever he wants to go if I don't screw him up (laughing). A whole lot of schools have come down. Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Florida, Ohio State, Purdue have been the ones showing the most interest."

Do you know if he'll be visiting Michigan this weekend?

"I know they talked about that and he's very interested in that, but he's got a lot of things going on right now that might prevent him from making it to some of that stuff."
