First on the list of official visits for Lousiville, Ky. lineman James McKinney is Nebraska. He said he'll be visiting Lincoln this weekend. The Central season ended Friday with a 54-43 loss to Boyle County to finish 10-3 on the season. After two opening losses the Yellowjackets rattles off 10-straight victories.
The University of Michigan will have it's next big recruiting event the weekend of Dec. 10. "I talked to Coach Carr and he said he wanted me to come up for their big weekend," McKinney said. "I'll be going up with Brandon (Logan)."
McKinney was at the recent Michigan - Ohio State game in Columbus. "I had a great time," he said. "The stadium was loud and the fans were into it. Ohio State played a great game." He said he was in the stands rather than on the field and didn't get a chance to talk to coaches or players from either team.
The 6 foot 3, 263-pound McKinney recently told Scout.com's Allen Wallace that Michgian and Louisville were his top-two schools, with the Wolverines holding a slight edge. "The defense at Michigan is coming along nicely," he said. "They are recruiting some big-time players ... I also really like coach (Jim) Herrmann a lot." McKinney said Saturday's outcome did nothing to change his impression of Michigan.
"Louisville is my number two school," he told Wallace. "They are doing some great things in the ACC East. I like their new defensive coord, coach (Mike) Cassity (safeties). He's from Illinois. I like how they rush their DEs and also bring like seven men to rush the QB sometimes. That's my type of defense. They're kind of thin on their defensive line and I'd like to go in there and compete for some early playing time. They are recruiting me as a DE."
