Official Visits Taken/Planned: Dec. 10 is Growing!

The December 3 weekend is over, and another even bigger weekend is coming up!

TWO new visitors are added to the Dec. 10 Weekend list!

Here once again are all official visits, taken and planned -- including two for January.<br.
And the very latest on each recruit!
Scheduled Official Visits: December 10 Weekend

- Cornerback Brandon Harrison (Dec. 10 official visit, OSU Nike stats: 5-8 1/2, 190 lbs., 4.25 in the 40, 4.28 sec. shuttle, 37.3 inch vertical jump, 18 bench press reps. ... 10.6 100 meters, 315 lb. bench press, 3.0 GPA/17 ACT) from Dayton, Ohio Chaminade-Julienne. Michigan was an early favorite of Brandon and his dad's (they attended the Junior Day last Jan.), but when Notre Dame offered early and U-M didn't, Harrison picked the Irish. ND is now OUT for him, and it's down to Iowa (Dec. 3 visit) and U-M. We assume Brandon will get his firm U-M offer at the visit, and that U-M may well make a push for him.

- NEW: - Offensive lineman Mark Ortmann (Dec. 10 official visit, 6-6, 270 lbs., 5.2 in the 40, 350 lb. bench press, 3.5 GPA) from Klein, Tex. We thought Ortmann might make it in for a U-M visit last weekend, but a visit is set for this coming weekend for sure. He did have Northwestern set for Dec. 3 and Texas A&M Dec. 10, but he cancelled Northwestern and visited the Aggies last weekend. This is a TXAM-U-M battle -- we'll see if he gets a firm U-M offer (we assume he will). His family is from Chicago.

- The once-and-hopefully-future commitment: DL James McKinney (Dec. 10 U-M official visit, '04 U-M Camper, US Army Combine stats: 6-1 1/2, 274 lbs., 5.10 in the 40, 14 bench press reps., 24 1/2 inch vertical jump, 2.7 GPA/17 ACT) from Louisville, Kent., Central. He made an unofficial visit to U-M for the MSU game. He has official visits to Nebraska (Nov. 26), Clemson (Dec. 3), Michigan, Oklahoma, and possibly Notre Dame ... U-M leads Louisville (doesn't need an official) with Oklahoma possibly third. McKinney was a full week U-M camper, and worked out at both tight end and defensive lineman. He is's #75 prospect, and has been chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game. SR (10-2) stats: 70 tackles/10 sacks/3 blocked FG/4 batted passes/7 FC.

- Defensive/offensive tackle Marques Slocum (Dec. 10 U-M official visit, PSU Nike stats: 6-6, 330 lbs., 5.09 in the 40 ... 300 lb. bench press) from Philadelphia West Catholic. As of Oct. 1st. he has official visits scheduled to MSU (Nov. 12, with teammate Derrell Hand ... leader?), U-M (Dec. 10), the two leaders with Maryland (Dec. 17) ... and possibly LSU (Jan.) or Virginia. He made a summer unofficial visit to U-M on Monday, July 26. Slocum grew up a U-M fan and U-M has offered him. He is's #70 prospect.

- Offensive tackle Cory Zirbel (Dec. U-M 10 official visit, '04 U-M Camper, 6-6, 290 lbs., 5.18 {electronic} in the 40, 3.1 GPA/ 19 ACT) from Murray, Kent. He made an unofficial visit to U-M for the Iowa game. He was offered at the U-M Camp. U-M, Miami (camp, Dec. 3 official visit) and Oklahoma (Oct. 2 official visit) may be his final three, with U-M perhaps at the top. He also made an official to Virginia Tech (Nov. 26). He is's' #51 South prospect.

- Offensive lineman David Moosman (Dec. 10 official visit, '04 U-M Camper, 6-3, 260 lbs., 5.3 in the 40, 360 lb. bench press, 2.9 GPA/26 ACT) from Libertyville, Ill. Coach Carr reportedly made his in-home visit with Moosman Dec. 3. Moosman attended the U-M/MSU game for an unofficial visit. David, Dan Doering and Dace Richardson all attended the U-M/Notre Dame game. Wisconsin (camp, Dec. 3 official visit) and Michigan (Dec. 10; camp) both lead slightly over Iowa (Dec. 17; camp), Notre Dame (Jan. 15; camp) and UCLA (possible late Jan.; he has family in LA). He'll make a late decision. He is's #17 Midwest prospect.

- Commitment #11: Tight end/defensive end Carson Butler (Dec. 10 official visit, 6-5, 235 lbs., 4.6 in the 40, 2.9 GPA) from Detroit Renaissance. He made a U-M unofficial visit for the Minn. game, and for the Miami game. Butler had to sit out his junior year after transferring from Lansing Waverly. He did play hoops on the Renaisssance team last winter. U-M offered him after seeing film of his first couple games ... and he committed at the Minn. game.

- Commitment #3: Mario Manningham (Dec. 10 official visit, 6-0, 180 lbs., 4.4 in the 40) from Warren, Ohio, Harding. Mario is growing and developing physically ... he's an inch taller at 6-0 now, and he's also noticeably stronger. He reportedly ran the camp's second fastest 40 time. Manningham made an unofficial visit to Michigan for the '03 Indiana game, and committed to the Wolverines the day after Signing Day. He is's #84 prospect.

- Cornerback Avery Atkins (Dec. 10 official visit, 6-2, 190 lbs. 4.39 in the 40 {'03 FSU Camp}, 285 lb. bench press, 35 inch vertical) from Daytona Beach, Calif., Mainland. He is's #37 prospect. His top schools before committing to Florida in May were the instate schools and Michigan. And Michigan's top 3 CB recruits early-on were considered to be Justin King, Atkins, and Victor Harris.

- Quarterback Jonathan Garner (Dec. 10 official visit, Miami Nike Stats: 6-4, 206 lbs., 4.98 in the 40, 4.56 sec. shuttle, 25.5 inch vertical jump) from Daytona Beach, Calif., Mainland. Going into the state semi-finals, Garner has completed over 50% of his passes, for 1880 yards, 18 passing touchdowns, 6 rushing touchdowns, with 4 interceptions ... on a running team. He was an Elite 11 Quarterback this past summer.

- Michigan Commitment #5: Cornerback Johnny Sears (USC camp stats: 6-1 1/2, 175 lbs., 4.4 in the 40 {electronic}, 34 inch vertical jump) from Fresno, Calif., Edison. Johnny is an unknown because he had to sit out his junior season after transferring. Still, the Edison DB coach, who has sent many kids to Div. 1 college programs (including Ricky Manning), highly recommends him.

December 3 Weekend in Retrospect

- Quarterback Jason Forcier (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, '04 U-M Camper, 6-2 1/2, 205 lbs., 4.57 in the 40) from San Diego, Calif., St. Augustine. He did not commit at his visit, but U-M has moved into a strong position, and he will attend a Rose Bowl practice. Forcier has been an ASU commitment, but has backed off that ... still, ASU is the competition for him. Forcier also was a 2002 U-M camper, and attended the OSU game in '03. His dad is from Michigan and Jason grew up a U-M fan. He finished his senior season with 2765 yards passing with 36 touchdowns and seven interceptions; a 62 percent completion rate; 1014 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns on the ground.

- Linebacker Brandon Logan (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, ‘02 & ‘03 U-M Camper, US Army Combine stats: 6-0, 189 lbs., 4.72 in the 40, 11 bench press reps., 26 inch vertical jump, 2.5 GPA/17 ACT) from Lexington, Kent., Catholic. Logan is made his official U-M visit with his dad. U-M may lead for him, with Tennessee 'tight there' as well (Nov. 26 official visit), and perhaps Kentucky (Dec. 10 official visit). He attended the MSU game for an unofficial visit with his parents. Brandon did not attend the '04 U-M Camp because of a hamstring injury, but he is a two-time Michigan Camper. He attended a 2004 Spring Practice. He and DL recruit James McKinney are cousins.

- Athlete (WR/QB) Antonio Bass (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, 6-1, 190 lbs., 4.4 in the 40, 3.0 GPA/21 ACT) from Jackson, Mich. He did not commit at his visit; he will also visit MSU (Dec. 10) and probably make a decision soon after. He made a Labor Day weekend official visit to Virginia Tech, and it's very close between U-M and V-Tech. He also made an official visit to LSU the Nov. 12 weekend. He also made an unofficial visit for the Oct. 9 Minn. game, and he attended the late July U-M Junior Academic Day. 2004 stats: he rushed for 1,246 yards on140 carries and 15 touchdowns. He also passed for 528 yards on 25 of 75 passing with four touchdowns and four interceptions. He is's #50 prospect.

- Offensive tackle Dace Richardson (Dec. 3 official visit, 6-8, 305 lbs., 5.2 in the 40, 2.8 GPA/18 ACT) from Wheaton, Ill., South. He did not commit at his U-M visit, but Michigan's position with him is strengthening. He is considering a top 4 of Tennessee (Oct. 23 offic. visit), Iowa (camp, Dec. 10 visit), USC (leader? He has family in Calif., Jan. 22 visit), with U-M (Dec. 3) sneaking up there, plus perhaps Oklahoma or Wisconsin. Richardson attended the U-M/Iowa game, and also visited for a U-M spring practice. Richardson, Dan Doering, and David Moosman all attended the U-M/Notre Dame game. He is's #24 prospect.

- (Commitment #2) Offensive lineman Justin Schifano (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, '03 U-M Camper, Nike stats: 6-4 1/2, 302 lbs., 5.1 in the 40, 30 bench press reps. of 185 lbs. ... 400 lb. bench press, "A" avg./qualified) from Webster, N.Y., Schroeder. He committed during his unofficial visit for the '03 Notre Dame game. He was the top OL performer at the '03 PSU Nike Camp as a soph. He is's #39 East prospect.

- (Commitment #1) Kevin Grady (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, '02 U-M Camper, 5-9, 230 lbs., 4.5 in the 40, 2.7 GPA) from East Grand Rapids, Mich. For his senior season he ran for 2,365 yards on 298 carries (7.9 yards per carry), and set state records in career scoring (924 points), career TD's (151), career rushing (8,431 yards) and consecutive 100 yard games (24). He committed Sept 8, 2003, after attending the Houston game. He was not at the 2004 U-M Camp because he was in summer school getting ahead -- he is enrolling at U-M in Jan. 2005 ... he'll attend the '05 Rose Bowl with the team. He is TheInsiders' #19 prospect.

- (Commitment #6) defensive end/outside linebacker Chris McLaurin (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, '04 U-M Camper, 6-4, 230 lbs., 4.80 {electronic} in the 40) from Orchard Lake, Mich., St. Mary's. He won a U-M camp offer and committed soon after. He'd also attended U-M for the MSU basketball game this past winter. As a junior the sleek and fast defensive end made 50 tackles and 9 1/2 sacks.

- (Commitment #7) Punter Zoltan Mesko (Dec. 3 U-M official visit, '04 U-M Camper, 6-3, 200 lbs.) from Twinsburg, Ohio. USC is still after Mesko, but he's a solid commitment.

- Didn't make it in: Defensive tackle/end Kyle Moore (Dec. 3 official visit, 6-6, 255 lbs., 4.9 in the 40, 3.0 GPA/960 SAT) from Warner Robbins, Ga., Houston County. According to his mom, trying to get the U-M visit set up mid-week last week was just too late. Moore has family in Detroit, and has had a Dec. 3 U-M visit scheduled for a long time ... recently it looked like he'd dropped it. His other officials: USC (Oct. 15), Oklahoma (Oct. 23), Tennessee (Nov. 5), Georgia (Dec. 10, unofficial?) and Miami (January visit, unofficial?). Moore is's' #41 South prospect, but has had a great senior year and will reportedly be on the USA Today All-American team.

Official Visits Taken This Fall

The Oct. 29 MSU Game: Official Visitors

- NEW: Cornerback/running back Victor Harris (Oct. 29 MSU game official visit, 6-0, 185 lbs., 4.45 in the 40, 2.8 GPA) from Highland Springs, Vir. grew up a U-M (and Miami) fan. As of early Dec. U-M may trail Virginia Tech (recent unofficial visit) ... BUT ... maybe NOT!. He had a Halloween bye week, and made an official visit to U-M for the Oct. 30 MSU game. He has a final five now, with official visits: USC (Oct. 16), Michigan (Oct. 29), Virginia (Dec. 3) and Virginia Tech (Dec. 10), Miami (Dec. 17.). He is TheInsiders' #25 prospect.

He made an official visit Oct. 29 for the MSU game. U-M is in his top two or three with LSU (camp, Dec. 3 official visit - did NOT commit at visit), A&M (camp, Sept. 17 official visit, Nov. 13 unofficial visit for Oklahoma game); he also has official visits to Nebraska (Dec. 10) and Oklahoma (Sept. 10). He will announce his decision by Christmas.

Iowa Game Official Visitors:

- Committed to Michigan at the visit: Defensive tackle Terrance Taylor (Sept. 25 Iowa game offic. visit, '03 U-M Camper, 6-0, 285 lbs., 4.9 in the 40, 2.8 GPA/18 ACT) from Muskegon, Mich. He committed at the visit.

Richards made his visit with his father/head coach, also named Chris, who played DB at Cal with U-M defensive backs coach Ron English.

A couple Others:

- Cornerback Derek Pegues (Dec. 10 official visit - postponed, 5-11, 190 lbs., 4.4 in the 40, 2.8 GPA/18 ACT) from Batesville, Miss., South Panola. His Dec. 10 tentative visit to U-M was postponed for Tennessee (he played in the state championship game on Dec. 3 when his Tenn. visit had been planned) -- this may look bad, but if he does NOT commit to Tennessee at the visit, then U-M is still in a good position with a Jan. visit. Pegues made a one-day visit the day before the U-M Summer camp. As ofmid-Dec he lists a top list of Tennessee (Dec. 10 visit), Michigan, LSU (Jan. 21), perhaps followed by Miss. State and and Alabama. He is TheInsiders #79 South prospect.

- Linebacker Rico McCoy (Jan. U-M visit, '03 U-M Camper, 6-1, 215 lbs., 4.55 in the 40, 2. GPA) from Washington D.C. St. John's College. He has official visits to Pittsburgh (Nov. 26), OSU (Dec. 3), and Tennessee (Dec. 10), plus he will visit Miami (Dec. 17) ... also in the mix is Syracuse (where his brother Reggie a freshman defensive back) and North Carolina. As a junior he made 120 tackles and five sacks. He is TheInsiders' #76 prospect, and has been named to the US Army All American team.
