Slocum and McKinney: US Army Game Announcements?

D-line has become a position of need for Michigan football recruiting. And the East Team of January 15th's U.S. Army All American Game features two big D-Linemen who may make their decisions at the game -- both of whom may well pick Michigan! GoBlueWolverine brings you, first hand, the very latest on both of them.

With the possible departure from the team of one or two D-linemen (see below), defensive tackle suddenly becomes a key recruiting position for the Wolverines.

Fortunately, Michigan has one top DT commitment in Terrance Taylor, plus two more top DL recruits, both of whom GoBlueWolverine will be covering at the upcoming U.S. Army All American Game.

The two: James McKinney and Marques Slocum. And GoBlueWolverine has gotten the very latest on both for you!

Regarding the once-and-hopefully-future commitment: DL/TE James McKinney (Dec. 10 U-M official visit, '04 U-M Camper, US Army Combine stats: 6-1 1/2, 274 lbs., 5.10 in the 40, 14 bench press reps., 24 1/2 inch vertical jump, 2.7 GPA/17 ACT) from Louisville, Kent., Central.

GoBlueWolverine brought you an interview with McKinney last night (click here), where he told the tale of his strange weekend: he dropped his scheduled Oklahoma visit at the last second in favor of an official visit to home-town Louisville, only to be sent home in the middle of the visit after being accused of knocking the Louisville football program to other recruits at the visit. Louisville, James told us, actually had been his leader going into the visit, in large part because his mom wanted him to stay home ... now she has had it with the Louisville program and has given James her blessing to go to Michigan -- if that's what he wants to do. He has visited Nebraska, Clemson and Michigan (along with Louisville) and will either chose between those three at the U.S. Army Game, or take one more visit after the game to either Ohio State, Oklahoma or Florida.

Is Michigan the leader for McKinney now? It's possible.

Regarding defensive/offensive tackle Marques Slocum (Dec. 10 U-M official visit, PSU Nike stats: 6-6, 330 lbs., 5.09 in the 40 ... 300 lb. bench press, 2.0 GPA) from Philadelphia West Catholic.

We confirmed this morning the latest on Marcus -- click here to read up on it.
Marques may also make his decision at the U.S. Army All American game -- where, GBW is told, he may start at offensive center for the East team if they can convince him to do it.
Marques is one of two top Wolverine recruits who have come down to being classic recruiting battles with MSU -- the other being Antonio Bass.

Is Michigan the leader for Slocum now? It's possible ... Marques isn't talking, but click here.

Commitments from Bass in December and McKinney and Slocum in January would bring the Michigan recruiting class to 20 ... which could end up the right number. How? click here.
