US Army Jr. Combine: The QB's - FIRST STATS

The first stats are in on the U.S. Army Combine quarterbacks. Also included are their stated college preferences -- top 5, in order! And keep checking back, there is much more to come! Fully 8 of the country's top Jr. QB's attended the U.S. Army Junior Combine Saturday evening and Sunday morning. GBW watched and talked to all of them -- most of whom are interested in Michigan. And U-M has already been to the schools of many of them.

Timothy Tebow from St. Augustine, Fla., Nease. [Action photos just below]

Stats: The lefty measured 6-2, 1/2, weighed 218 lbs., and reported an impressive 27 bench press reps of 185 lbs.! He declined to give Scout.com a list of favorite schools, but he already has several offers, including from U-M.

As we said before, he has a cannon for an arm. He's one of the most famous of the juniors already (along with DB Myron Rolle), and was being interviewed by the press almost constantly. He would not give us a list of schools, but told us, "Coach Loeffler has been by my school, Coach Carr too."

Mike Canfield from Lansing, Mich., Everett. [Action photos just below]

Stats: He measured 6-1 1/2 and weighed 216 lbs. His stated school prefs, in order: "U-M, MSU, OSU, Notre Dame, Iowa." He has no offers at this early point.

Canfield has a build/body similar to Chad Henne. He shocked onlookers with his arm strength, because absolutely no one knew who he was (except us, of course). The guy has a cannon for an arm. Mike told us he doesn't have any offers, but he's interested in Michigan.

Mike Hartline from Canton, Ohio, Glenoak. [Action photos just below]

Stats: He measured 6-5 1/4 and weighed 180 lbs. His stated school prefs, in order: "OSU, FSU, U-M, Virginia, Purdue." He has no offers at this early point.

The tallest of the QB's at the combine, Mike is a slender kid, but has filled out considerably and gotten stronger since last summer when he was a string-bean at the U-M Camp and displayed an average arm. This time his arm was VERY good. He told us, "Yeah, I was at the Michigan Camp last summer, and I'll be there again this summer."

Zach Frazer from Mechanicsburg, Pa. [Action photos just below]

Stats: He measured 6-3 5/8 and weighed 209 lbs. His stated school prefs, in order: "U-M, Purdue, PSU, Alabama, Notre Dame." He has no offers at this early point.

Zach was hampered with a bad cold at the combine (we'd forgotten that ... he was very stuffed up and clearly under the weather when we talked to him), but he is a strong, big-boned quarterback. He told us, "I was at the Michigan State game last fall (we saw him there), and Coach Loeffler has been by my school this winter." He doesn't have any offers yet, but lists, "Michigan, Purdue, PSU, Notre Dame, OSU and Virginia." He made a couple of poor throws in the combine, but there were so many quarterbacks that he (and everyone else) only got a few chances ... he looked like he was feeling the effects of his cold/flu.

Sean Hakes from Ft. Worth, Tex., Nolan Catholic. [Action photos just below]

Stats: He measured 6-2 1/4 and weighed 165 lbs. His stated school prefs, in order: "U-M, Notre Dame, OSU, Alabama, Wisconsin." He listed no offers at this early point.

Hakes is cut out of the Brady Quinn mold, somewhat slender and very quick. He showed great agility and mobility (he ran a 4.3 sec. shuttle). His arm seemed average, but he may have just 'short-armed' a few balls due to nervousness, and, as we said, only got a few chances due to the large number of participants. He told us, "Coach Loeffler has been by my school this winter," and that, "I have a Michigan offer" (note the discrepency with what he wrote down as far as offers ... probably means no 'official' offer). When he told us he lists the same schools as above (plus Miami), we mentioned that there are a lot of Northern schools on his list; he smiled and said, "I'm originally from Ohio."

Jeremy Ricker from Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt. He has no offers at this early point.

Stats: He measured 6-3 3/4 and weighed 191 lbs., and reports 7 bench press reps of 185 lbs. His stated school prefs, in order: "Texas, Maryland, Virginia, U-M, Miami."

Ricker told us his top schools were, "Virginia, Maryland, and Miami" (which just shows, things are early!). He has several offers already.

Miles Schlichter from Washington Court House, Ohio. Stats: He measured 6-0, 1/2 and weighed 195 lbs. His stated school prefs, in order: "Notre Dame, OSU, U-M, Virginia, Iowa." He has no offers at this early point.

The mobile and strong (11 bench press reps of 185 lbs.) Schlichter has been brought around U-M the past couple years by Wolverine Mark Bihl. He told us he wants to make an early decision.
