McKinney:Gets Big Visitor, Sets Tent. Announcement

U.S. Army All-American Bowl participant James McKinney from Central High School in Louisville, Ky. has one more official visit left. Will he use it and, if so, where? GoBlueWolverine Magazine spoke with the four-star standout Tuesday to find out. He also said he has a tentative announcement date.

Defensive lineman James McKinney was part of the East All-American team this past weekend that was trounced 35-3 by the West team. McKinney said other than the loss, the entire experience was fun. Now that the excitement of his last high school football game is past, business returns once again to recruiting. McKinney has one official visit left. "I may take it to Florida this weekend," he said. "I am supposed to talk to coach Mattison (Tuesday night) about setting it up."

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound McKinney said his final list of schools is Florida, Nebraska, Clemson and Michigan and didn't claim a leader, though he told that Michigan was out front at the moment. So when will the world know his choice? "We have a team banquet on Jan. 30," he said. "I'm thinking that may be a good place to make my announcement."

McKinney said he injured his hip during practice for the All-American game, but is feeling better. "It doesn't hurt at all now," he said.

The big man had a visitor Tuesday. "Coach Carr was down here today," he said.
