It's been a tumultuous couple of days for defensive back Chris Richards from Monroe High School in North Hills, Calif. A long time Michigan commitment, reports came out Thursday that he had suddenly changed his mind and pledged for the University of California. Richards told GoBlueWolverine Magazine on Thursday that nothing had been decided, and he had some thinking to do. Today, after a talk with Michigan defensive backs coach, he is once again a Wolverine. "It's Michigan," he said. "I talked with Coach English for a long time, and he explained to me the advantages of going to Michigan. I want to apologize to the Michigan fans for seeming so wishy-washy, but Cal was always my favorite and it was a tough decision for me once they started showing interest. Wednesday can't get here fast enough."

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Richards said he informed the Cal coaches of his decision. "They were disappointed," he said. "I'm not taking any more calls about this, I'm done, it's over and I'm going away for a couple days."

As for his parents, Richards said his father was always for Michigan, and his mom, who wanted Cal, had warmed up to Michigan. "They said I could go where I wanted," Richards said. "In the end they are both very happy with my decision to go to Michigan."

Richards said he would speak further with English regarding exactly in which class he will enroll. "He's suppose to call me again next week and we'll talk more about that," he said.
