Numeric position rankings are by Jim S, as are his 'star' ratings of U-M's chances (**** being tops).
U-M Commitment #1:
3 Brandon Graham LB 6'1 235 4.40 Detroit Crockett, Michigan. The top prospect in Michigan and one of the naton's elite linebackers. Also has a 3.8 grade-point average. Committed to Michigan at the February 20 Junior Day. Clould play any LB position: MIKE, WILL or SAM. ****
U-M looks good for:
7 Jeremiha Hunter LB/RB 6'1 199 4.40 Manheim Central, Pennsylvania. Jeremiha ran for 1,022 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, but his future is as an Ian Gold-type of linebacker. Tremendous speed and versatilty as a 'backer, Jeremiha was so impressive at the Michigan camp last summer that he was offered a scholarship. He has numerous other offers, but Michigan is his clear number one over West Virginia. Prototype WILL LB. ****
U-M looks good for, but no offer yet:
30 Cobrani Mixon LB 6'2 220 4.60 Cincinnati Colerain, Ohio. Missed a few games with an ACL injury but returned late in the season. Had postseason surgery. Favors Michigan big. Will he be a camp commitment? ****
Two other kids to watch:
U-M has offered:
8 Thaddeus Gibson LB/DL 6'3 207 4.40 Euclid Ohio. A classic SAM LB. Thaddeus has that rare combination of frame and speed that gets recruitnicks excited. He claims he ran a 4.3 at the LSU camp alst year. Once he fills out, watch out. A true sackmaster. Along with Chris Wells one of the top 2 juniors in the Cleveland area. Will need to watch it academically. Ohio State will be tough to beat, but his mom likes Michigan. Will attend a spring practice. ***
14 A.J. Edds LB/TE 6'3 210 4.70 Greenwood, Indiana. Junior stats: 4 interceptions, 3 sacks, 10 tackles for loss. He was offered by Indiana and Illinois at summer camps last year and visited Michigan for the Minnesota game and recent junior day. Purdue has also offered. Plans on camping at Michigan. ***
BOTTOM LINE -- if Signing Day were today: With U-M in great shape for so many LB's, could they sign 4? At any rate, in an '06 U-M class of 12, fully half or more are likely to be LB's and DB's.
