Avondale Michigan's Adrian Cannon is quickly emerging as one of the top prospects in the Great Lake State. The 6-3 190-pounder had 36 receptions for over 600 yards on a team that went 8-2 last season. His excellent size and good speed have caught the attention of a number of schools presently…some of which have already offered.
"I am interested in Michigan, but I don't have a favorite or a top five at this point," Cannon said. "I'm considering everybody. I have a few offers at this point. As a matter of fact, I just got an offer from Kentucky today. I already had offers from Iowa State and Illinois."
When the rangy receiver does decide to pick a school, it's very unlikely that he will choose a place that is far away from home. "I want to be at a place that my mom can come and watch me play," Cannon said. "I'll also be looking at the facilities and the kind of offense they run at the school."
The number of programs in contact has been steadily increasing, but Cannon indicated that he is in no hurry to make a decision. "I think I'm just going to ride it out and hopefully get some more offers," he said. "Then I'll decide which one is best. I have a year before I really have to worry about making my choice."
In the meantime, Cannon will be working improving his skills for next season. One facet of his game that he is paying close attention to is his speed. "This is my first year running track," he said. "I'm going to run the 4X100 the 4X200, the open 100. I'll also be going to the Nike camp. I don't know at this point if I'll be going to any summer camps though.
GBW will keep tabs on Cannon in the coming months.
