Focus '06 - Steve Brown (Athlete)

The Hoosier State will have plenty of prep football talent to check out in 2005 and college recruiters will be sure to stop by Columbus East High School in May to check out super athlete Steve Brown. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder, already has three scholarship offers and more will certainly come his way during the Spring Evaluation Period.

"Right now I have scholarship offers from Illinois, Purdue and Indiana," Steve Brown said.

"My favorites are Michigan, Purdue, Notre Dame, Florida, Ohio State, Kansas State and Tennessee.

"I don't have a leader right now but I grew up a fan of Michigan and Florida. I'm going to hit a few one day camps this summer and take a few unofficial visits."

Brown has been invited to and plans on participating in the regional combine in Champaign, Ill., on April 23rd.

Brown will be a four-year varsity starter in 2005. He's played defensive back, wide receiver and running back in high school and we asked Steve where the college recruiters see him playing at the next level.

"It's different everywhere I go. Some schools tell me running back and some tell me defensive back and wide receiver.

"I'm versatile. I like rushing and receiving but I also like hitting and dishing out some punishment. I try to be explosive and elusive. I just want to get on the field and play."

In 2004, Brown had 1,700 yards of total offense. Those yards are split between rushing and receiving. Steve had 30 solo tackles and several big hits on defense. He was named all-state.

Steve Brown's father played football at Navy and he had a brother who played at Purdue. Both of their careers where cut short due to injuries.
