GBW Scouts DeMarco Murray's Spring Practice made its way to Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas to talk with, and scout, top DB/RB recruit DeMarco Murray. How did Murray look at his spring practice? Will he be making his way to Ann Arbor this summer?

When GoBlueWolverine arrived at the Bishop Gorman practice field, 'athlete' DeMarco Murray came over and told us, "Coach English (Michigan DB coach who also recruits the West for U-M) was just here to watch me practice."

So is he talking to you about defensive back or running back?

Demarco Murray takes a handoff as Bishop Gorman head coach David White looks on.
"Coach E talks to me about playing both ways, defensive back and tailback. Everyone else is recruiting me as a tailback."

"I don't have a favorite. I've gotten more open as more schools have been offering me, but I do have a group of schools I'm definitely interested in, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida and Florida State."

Is Ryan Reynolds trying to get you to go to Oklahoma (LB Reynolds, a former teammate, is an incoming Sooner freshman)?

"Nah ... he really doesn't say much to me about it."

How many offers do you have now?

"I think it's 16."

Murray runs through drills during the Geals practice on Tuesday

(Washington State, Arizona State, Arizona, Wisconsin, Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Penn State, New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, UNLV, Nebraska, and Texas A&M)

"Are you planning a trip North this summer?"

"Yeah, my coach and I will at least visit Michigan and Wisconsin. We'll try to get to Michigan during their camp week. I also hope to get down to see the Florida schools."

GoBlueWolverine looks forwards to scouting Murray against some top competition at a combine soon.

Scouting Report

It's a little hard to evaluate a guy when he's like a man playing with boys, and that is the case with Murray with the rest of his teammates. However, the natural ability is unmistakable.

Murray looks like a combination safety-cornerback-tailback prospect. He has extremely quick and agile feet, and he floats easily through drills -- ergo a cornerback? And he has good size at 6-0, 190 (he ran an electronic 4.51 40 at the Army Combine) and a natural physicality -- ergo a safety? But his running style -- he pumps his legs like a running back.

Murray is a 'combo' prospect, which makes him valuable to a school looking at a small recruiting class ... any schools in that catagory that we know of?
