Spiece Run 'n Slam Interviews: Ellis & Huelsman

GoBlueWolverine caught up with two of Michigan's Ohio post at last weekend's Spiece Run 'n Slam Tourney…06 prospect Kurt Huelsman from St. Henry and 07 prospect Keenan Ellis from the powerhouse North College Hill program in Cincinnati.

Keenan Ellis

Talk about your high school season.

"It went real well. I didn't get to play the first half of the season, but when I did come, it made us a lot better and I did everything I could do to help the team win. The whole time all we wanted to do was win state and we accomplished that goal."

What were your individual stats like?

"During the season I averaged 17 points and nine rebounds. Then during the playoffs O.J. (Mayo) and Bill (Walker) step theirs up, so I didn't have to score as much. I averaged 14 points 10 boards and something like five blocks."

When do you start playing with them this summer?

"I can't can wait until June 1st because that's when I go up with them. Then we'll be unstoppable."

What schools are you hearing from the most right now?

"IU heavily and Louisville a little bit. I like Louisville, but IU is the real heavy school. I've heard from Michigan a little bit. Other schools aren't really on me yet."

Did any Michigan coaches make it down to see you during the contact period?

"Coach Moore came to an open gym."

Did any other schools make it by?

"Yeah.. Dayton, Xavier, Purdue, Bowling Green, and Vanderbilt."

Will you be taking any unofficial visits this spring?

"I was down at Dayton. I'm thinking about take some others. I'm thinking about Michigan and Purdue."

Any new offers since the last time we spoke?


What are your plans for the rest of the summer?

"I'll be running with the team and going to a few camps. ABCD and the NBA Camp. Coach Barnes just told me a couple of weeks ago that I got invited."
