U-M Nike: Notable Performers By Position (MORE)

More Michigan Nike notable performers, in approximate order of interest to Michigan fans.

This stays the same as last night's Elite 11 Tryout, except that Mike Hartline went home (he'd attended the Virginia Tech Nike a few weeks earlier).
-- Once again Adam Weber (6-foot-2, 200-pounds) from Minnesota was the top QB performer.
-- Once again, Josh Freeman (6-foot-6, 220-pounds) from Grandville, Missouri, was the best 'looking' QB but not the best performing.
-- Don't forget Isiah Williams, the 6-foot-1 1/2, 200-pound 'athlete' from Chicago Vocational. He told us that the school that have offered him, Iowa, Illinois and Purdue, are all recruiting him as a QB, but he also looks like he'd make a great DB or WR.

-- OSU commitment LB Ross Homan from Coldwater, Ohio. Homan looked 6-foot-0 and 210-pounds.

-- LB Eric Gordon from Traverse City, Mich., West. Looking 6-foot-plus and perhaps 210-pounds, he ran an excellent 4.57 sec. 40 yard dash and had 30 bench press repetitions. If U-M decides to look at more instate kids, he may be one to keep in mind.

-- LB Andrew Trowbridge (5-foot-11, 210-pounds). Trowbridge was the top 'stats' performer overall with a 40 yard dash time of 4.78 secs., 37 bench press reps, a 34.5 inch vertical jump, and a 4.0 sec. shuttle. He is hoping for offers from Michigan and/or Iowa and/or Purdue.

-- LB/DE Jarrell Herring from Detroit Martin Luther King. Herring was 6-foot-2, 235-pounds, and, with a 5.0 sec. 40 yard dash, may have DE as his future.

Wide Receivers

-- WR Adrian Cannon from Pontiac, Mich. A true 6-2, and 180 lbs., he told us he ran a 4.6 sec. 40 yard dash. For the day he was a sure handed receiver but didn't have a great burst.

Adrian Cannon

-- WR Derek Brighton (5-foot-11 1/2, 175-pounds) from Allen Park, Michigan. Good speed, good hands, but has a somewhat smallish frame and could use more strength.

-- WR Quinton Patilla from Flint Carmen-Ainesworth. Same size and same comment as for Adrian Cannon. We also watched Quinton at the US Army Combine this past January.

Defensive Linemen

-- DL Aundre Henderson from Louisville, Kent, Manual. Henderson was 6-foot-4 and looked his reported 280 pounds. He has decent mobility but has an out of shape body for a DL.

Aundre Henderson

-- DL Ben Hunderman 6-feet-5, 260-pounds, from Zeeland, Michigan.

-- DL Chris Arthurs from Warrenville Wheaton, Illinois, South. Arthurs was smaller than expected at 6-foot-0, 260-pounds.

Defensive Backs

-- DB Jovani Chappel, 5-foot-8, 175-pounds, from Dayton, Ohio, Trotwood-Madison. Chappel did not have a real good day in the one-on-one QB-WR-DB drills, having to 'hold' in order to be physical.

Jovani Chappel

-- DB D.D. Hardy, 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, from New Haven, Michigan.

Offensive Linemen

-- OL DeShon Dedrick from Lansing, Mich., Sexton.Though not in great physical shape at 6-foot-3, 340-pounds, he showed good mobility.

-- OL Bryant Nowicki from Bangor, Mich, John Glenn. Nowicki is huge at 6-foot-7, 360-pounds, but not in great physical shape.

-- OL Garrett Whaley from Pinconning, Michigan. Whaley is not in great physical shape at 6-foot-2, 290-pounds.

-- OL Jeff Maddux (6-2 1/2, 290 lbs.) from Monroe, Mich. He is Jim S' #58 OL.

-- OL Ramone Johnson (6-2 1/2, 300 lbs.) from Chicago Morgan Park. He is Jim S' #71 OL.

Running Backs

Because Steve Brown worked out at safety instead of tailback, we did not watch the RB's closely.
