Late May Updated OL Best Guess List

GoBlueWolverine has been all around the country to scout over 2/3rds of Michigan's top offensive line recruits. So it's time to present an updated, more accurate O-line Best Guess U-M Recruiting Class List. Here are the kids U-M evidently REALLY wants at their position of most-recruiting-need, including some NEW NAMES you may have never heard before!

Offensive Linemen
The need: One interior guy (Boren), one or two great tackles.

Note: the rankings are from Jim S (soon to be updated)

2 Sam Young OL 6'7 295 5.00 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas Florida. He has emerged as a tremendous, top ten national prospect. A hard-nosed, threeyear starter, Young was a major reason for the Raiders' 3,040 yards in the regular season. A tremendous passblocker and extremely quick, he was the physical presence St. Thomas needed to advance to the state championship. Stays 'open' with the press, but favors Michigan highly.

6 Connor Smith OL 6'6 290 5.10 Cincinnati Colerain Ohio. He's from the same school as Michigan signee Mister Simpson. OSU (offer) is considered the leader over U-M and Tennessee. He also has offers from Boston College, Miami (Ohio), LSU, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Oregon, and Tennessee and Michigan. Smith and Justin Boren are friends. He will attend the U-M Camp, and he wants to make a summer decision.

8 Justin Boren OL 6'3 319 5.20 Pickerington North Ohio. Not many juniors receive offers from Ohio State before the New Year. Justin Boren did. Justin's father, Mike, was a starting linebacker at Michigan in the 1980s. Justin is much bigger than his dad. One of the nation's elite OLs. After OSU got an early lead for him, U-M closed the gap starting with the Feb. 20 Junior Day - and Justin committed to U-M on May 13.

11 Steve Schilling OL 6'5 290 Bellevue Washington. Fast and agile, Schilling was the best prospect on this state powerhouse. He was a consensus all-state selection as a junior. Could well be the state's most sought after recruit. Lloyd Carr has reportedly visited the school in the winter. Michigan has offered, as well as such schools as UCLA, Washington, Washington State and Oregon. Will visit Michigan May 22-23.

Other OL-iners To Keep An Eye On For Now:

3 OT Carl Johnson (6-6, 325, 5.2 {Georgia Nike}) from Durham, North Carolina, Southern. The top prospect in the state and one of the top two OL performers at the Georgia Nike Combine, he has a ton of offers, including from Michigan.

18 Daron Rose 6'5 290 5.00 Tampa Jefferson Florida. Underrated at #18, he's another guy with a ton of early offers, including U-M and USC.

30 Bartley Webb OL 6'6 285 5.40 Springdale Arkansas. He visit U-M for the 'spring game'. He has early offers from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Clemson, Arkansas, Texas and a few others. Great size and athleticism.

39 Chris Stewart OL 6'5 363 5.30 Klein Texas. Chris is one of the top prospects in the Houston area and comes from the same program that sent Mark Ortmann to Michigan. He is a mauler and at the 2004 U.S. Army Combine (one year ago) put up 22 reps in the 185 pound bench press as a sophomore. He is quite impressive on film and will be much more highly recruited than Ortmann. He reportedly favors Texas A&M and Notre Dame, but Michigan is in his top five. He has an early offer from Texas Tech.
