Late May Updated DL Best Guess List

GoBlueWolverine has been all around the country to scout every one of Michigan's top defensive line recruits (as well as their top underclass targets for that matter). So it's time to present an updated, more accurate Defensive Line Best Guess U-M Recruiting Class List.

Note: rankings are Jim S' spring rankings (which will be updated soon)

Defensive Linemen
The need: one or two? … mainly DE types.

2 Micah Johnson DE/LB 6'2 277 4.70 Fort Campbell Kentucky. Micah is the top-rated prospect in the state of Kentucky. A high school prospect reminiscent of Lamarr Woodley. Johnson, who has 14 percent body fat and runs a 4.7 40-yard dash, posted 174 tackles as a junior. He played running back the last half of the season and gained 1,200 yards. He has many early offers from the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Louisville, Virginia and Virginia Tech. In the spring he'd said Michigan and USC are his two definite visits … we'll see if that is still the case - lately he's been mentioning more Southern schools.

18 Antonio Reed DL 6'2 275 4.80 Warren Harding Ohio. Tony is the latest in a long line of talented prospects to emerge from Harding (Mo Clarett, Prescott Burgess, Mario Manningham). He was rated by as one of the nation's top 94 junior prospects. Is related to the late Korey Stringer. Started at both TE and DL as a junior. Word is that Michigan and Virginia are in a battle for his services.

24 Corey Peters DL 6'2 275 4.90 Louisville Central Kentucky. Corey was a teammate of Michigan signee James McKinney and a talented prospect in his own right. Not quite the athlete that James is, but still a talented prospect. He was an Honorable Mention All-Stater as a junior. He has early offers from Kentucky and Louisville. Michigan and Kentucky are proably his co-leaders. He will camp at U-M in the summer.

32 Jason Pinkston DL/OL 6'5 270 4.90 Pittsburgh Baldwin Pennsylvania. He led the Highlanders in tackles (98) and sacks (six) this fall, and was the leading vote-getter among defensive linemen for the All-Quad East team. He has early offers from schools such as Penn State, Pittsburgh, LSU, Maryland, Iowa, Georgia and West Virginia, and he reports one from Michigan as well. He will visit U-M in the summer.

48 Jermaine Cunningham DL 6'4 230 Stone Mountain Stephenson Georgia. Although teammate Marcus Ball gets most of the ink, recruiters know all about Jermaine as well. As a junior he was named First Team Dekalb County and was an Honorable Mention AAAAA All-State selection. He had a dominant season with 136 tackles, 26 tackles for losses and 12 sacks for one of the state's top programs. A very talented DE prospect who is being heavily recruited by the SEC and ACC, and has been offered by U-M as well. He will camp at U-M. He is underrated at #48.
