'05-'06 Hockey Schedule Released

The 2005-2006 University of Michigan hockey schedule was released Wednesday by Wolverine hockey head man Red Berenson. The '05-'06 schedule will kickoff with the annual Blue/White Scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor as the first of 22 contests set for the Yost cold floor. Along with the Blue/White scrimmage, the Wolverines host two other exhibition contests as a tune up for one of the most difficult non-conference schedules in the country.

In the non-conference portion of the schedule the Wolverines open with Quinnipiac for a two game set on October 7-8. Michigan follows Quinnipiac with the first of many home contests against teams that finished in the final polls of the 2004-2005 season. Boston College makes their first return to Yost Ice Arena since 1987 on October 14, in a game sure to have national tournament implications.

After stepping into CCHA play for a few games, three of the top WCHA teams will take a crack at the Wolverines. Minnesota and Wisconsin will both stop in at Yost for the 13th annual college hockey showcase in late November, and Colorado College, the team that ended the Wolverines '05 season will square off with the Wolverines in the opening round of the Great Lakes Invitational.

Inside the CCHA the Wolverines drew a cluster with Michigan State, Alaska-Fairbanks, and Nebraska-Omaha. Michigan State will open the Wolverines portion of the CCHA schedule with a home game at Yost set for October 22.

2004-2005 conference runner-up Ohio State will make a two game appearance at Yost in February in what are sure to be crucial games in the CCHA standings.
