Offensive Tackle Jim Barrie's Profile
"You've caught me at the right time -- my parents and I just walked out the doors of Schembechler Hall."
Did you commit to Michigan?
"No. But Michigan is definitely right up there, they're tied with Florida State at the top."
(Note: both schools have offered Barrie, as well as many others.)
Where else are you going on this trip?
"We flew straight up here to U-M from Florida. From here we're flying to Oklahoma to visit there, then we go home on Saturday."
What is your timetable for deciding?
"We've talked about it. I plan to take three official visits I think, probably during the season. Michigan and Florida State will be two of the visits. We talked to Coach Campbell about a visit date today, but we haven't set one yet."
You have a litany of State of Michigan connections, don't you?
"Yeah (laughing). My dad is from East Grand Rapids and my mom is from Birmingham (Michigan). I have cousins in Livonia, and I even have relatives here in Ann Arbor. So I've been up here before visiting."
"And my sister graduated from Michigan. She's in med school at Florida State now."
She recently had heart surgery -- how's she doing?
"She's doing awesome. She's on IV's for another week, then she starts her rehab. She got a bacterial infection in her foot walking around New York City in open shoes, and it went to her heart ... in a matter of days she had to have open heart surgery. It was scary. Now it'll be quite a case study for her in med school!"
The 6-5, 300-pound Barrie has been narrowing his list, as he and his parents have also traveled recently to Duke, South Carolina and Florida State recently.
