Myron Rolle Clarifies Status

As decision time nears for Scout.com's No. 1 player, rumors are certain to begin circulating about which school defensive back Myron Rolle will pick. Recent reports had him dropping one of his favorites, and picking an announcement date. GoBlueWolverine.com contacted Rolle to get clarification.

As decision time approaches for defensive back Myron Rolle of The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., the No. 1 player in the country according to Scout.com, every word and report will be meticulously analyzed and scrutinized in an attempt to decipher which fortunate school the talented scholar-athlete will attend. GoBlueWolverine.com recently contacted Rolle via e-mail to get an update on a few things.

At one time, Rolle had narrowed his list to five finalists - Michigan, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida and Florida State. Then, after taking a closer look at several schools, he added Texas, Georgia and Penn State to the mix. Shortly thereafter he dropped the Longhorns and Bulldogs, and had the remaining six has his final tally. According to a July 21 report on website PressofAtlanticCity.com, the list had once again been cut to the original five. However, Rolle insisted this is not the case. While the five schools listed are still in the running, "Penn State is definitely (emphasis his) still in the mix. It is still 6 schools that are being given consideration," Rolle said in an e-mail response.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound star has maintained throughout his recruiting that he will announce his choice towards the end of August. He still has one trip remaining, as he will visit Florida State and Florida in early August. "I am expecting to be in Tallahassee on August 5 - 6 and Gainesville Aug 7 - 8," he said. A recent report on Scout.com stated the reason for the second trip to Florida was so that his older brothers would have a chance to check out the Gators. "My brothers have seen every school but that one, and I would like for them to be as much a part of this decision as I am. It is just fair to my brothers so that they can see the school as well," he told OUInsider.com.

A final date for his announcement has yet to be set. "I have not firmed up a date yet as there are several minor details my father has to work out with the people we are working with," he said. "I will inform all of the coaches recruiting me prior to my announcement whether I committed to them or not (albeit it will not be too long before the announcement)."
