Vegas News & Notes: White, Udoh, & Morgan

GoBlueWolverine checks in with a few Vegas news and notes. Updates on an 07 target from the city of sin, plus word on Raymar Morgan and Ekpe Udoh.

Billy White is a versatile wing prospect from Las Vegas that has a nice pull-up J that extends out to the three-point line. It's still early in his development and he is still coming around as a player, but he can do a lot of things when he gets it going. GoBlueWolverine's Andre Barthwell spoke to this early 07 Michigan target a few weeks back at the Reebok ABCD camp.

You seem to be feeling better about your game right now?

"I think I am. I am playing better I trying to stay focused I have improved more on my shooting and rebounding. When I came here, I didn't like to rebound. But I am rebounding better and playing better defense."

What are the top schools you are looking at?

"Tennessee, New Mexico State, Arizona, Michigan"

What do you like about Michigan for you to put them on your list?

"I like the way they play and I like their coaches. I could see myself playing there. My Uncle took me to see a Michigan game and since then I have liked them."

The Michigan coaching staff appears to be giving Ekpe Udoh a long look out in Vegas. According to Jeff Goodman's Sunday report, "Michigan triple-teamed Ekpe Udoh at an afternoon game." The 6-9 215-pounder, who is reportedly scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured shoulder August 2nd, broke the news to GoBlueWolverine a few weeks back that the Wolverines were at the top of his list. We'll be checking in with more on him in the coming days.

Another player that has drawn significant attention from Michigan is Canton McKinley's Raymar Morgan. Tommy Amaker, Tom Izzo, and Thad Matta have all been visible at a number of the versatile forward's games this weekend. Dave Telep highlighted a particularly impressive performance by Morgan in spite of an annoying illness. "He’s battling a virus but by his play you couldn’t have deduced that factoid," Telep wrote. "Morgan was his efficient self going 7-for-12 from the field for 17 points and 12 boards "In the closing minutes of the game, Morgan figured it was winning time and went to work. He hammered down a nasty dunk that pretty much put the game away. For him, it’s a winning attitude and the wherewithal to do what it takes to get it done. Impressive summer."

As for his recruitment, Morgan appears intent on taking official visits to the favorites on his list in the fall. That said, don't expect that list to change much in the coming weeks. "Raymar Morgan has four schools on his list: Michigan State, Ohio State, Connecticut and Michigan," said Telep. "He indicated it would be unlikely others can get involved."
