Chris Slaughter a Fan of the Big Ten

Usually it's the Midwest prospects that have Michigan and Ohio State together on their lists of favorite colleges. However, one Peach State star told he is a fan of the Big Ten, and especially the "big rivalry". Chris Slaughter of Peach County High School has a top five, but is playing the process slowly.

Wide receiver isn't a major position of need for Michigan this year. However, one southern star received an offer way back in February, and is very interested in the Midwest. "I'm a huge fan of the Big Ten," Chris Slaughter of Peach County High school in Fort Valley, Ga., said. "Michigan and Ohio State is the big rivalry and I love the competition. I've always followed them and Michigan was the first school to offer me. I'm definitely going to visit both schools."

Along with the Wolverines and Buckeyes, the 6-foot-3, 165-pound Slaughter lists South Carolina, Auburn and Ole Miss as his top five, and said he will officially visit these schools. "I want to take all of my visits during the year and decide after that. I don't have a favorite right now and am just taking thing slow."

Slaughter said he attended the Auburn camp this summer, and will not be taking any more unofficial visits before the season. "We've already started practice and we have a scrimmage on Friday," he said. The Trojans open the regular season Aug. 19 against Northside of Warner Robins.

As a junior he caught 42 passes for 1,016 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was unsure of is grade-point average but reports a score of 780 on the old version of the SAT. He said he would retake the test. "I want to major in business management when I get to college," he said.
