Colorado Springs (Colo.) athlete Lamarr Houston, Jr. (6-2, 258, 4.9) said he's narrowed his list down to 10 schools and all have offered. "Right now my top schools are USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, Arizona State, Tennessee, Arizona and Nebraska," said Houston Jr., from Doherty High School.
"Right now I'm open to all ten of those schools and I really don't know when I'm going to be able to narrow that list down.
"I've been out to Texas and Arizona before for unofficial visits, but I really don't know when I'm going to start setting up official visits.
"I've been thinking about committing to a program within the next month or two, but I'm not sure where I want to go for my official visits," he said. "If I end up taking some officials, it won't be until after the season.
"I kind of feel like I've seen all that I can see and I need to make a decision. Not that taking those unofficials to Texas and Arizona has given me the chance to make up my mind--but I just feel like I'm ready to take the next step and just do it," he said.
"I was pretty much ready to commit recently. I thought that I wanted to go to Texas, but they've had a lot of commits and a lot of their positions have filled up. But they wanted me at defensive end, and I don't really want to play defensive end in college," said Houston.
"Most of these schools are looking at me as a defensive end, linebacker and a fullback--a full combination of the three. I don't really have a preference on either position in college, but I know that I don't want to play defensive end," he said.
"I've got some real God-given talent on the field and some great natural speed. I just want to work on my speed and get faster," he said.
Final JR (7-3) stats: 16 TFL and 9 sacks as a defensive tackle with 100 total tackles at defensive tackle and linebacker; 111 carries/800+ yds/13 TDs.
Bench: 315/Squat: 500/Power Clean: 275/Vert Jump: 29"
2.9 GPA/17 ACT--retest unset--"I'm fully qualified with the score that I have, but I just want to take it again to see if I can get a better one."
