Two Visits Set for RB Brandon Minor

Running back may not be the top position of need for Michigan in the recruiting class of 2006, but that doesn't mean the Wolverines aren't attractive to some of the top backs in the country, including Richmond, Va., star Brandon Minor. The four-star prospect told that he has two official visits set.

"I'll be going to Michigan on Dec. 9, and Miami on Dec. 16," running back Brandon Minor of Varina High School in Richmond, Va., said on Monday. caught up with the 6-foot-0, 210-pound Minor shortly after he returned from an unofficial visit to North Carolina State. The Wolfpack hosted Virginia Tech on Sunday. "It was crazy down there and it was a great game," he said. "I really like Coach (Chuck) Amato a lot. I don't think I'll go there for an official visit though." Virginia Tech won the game 20-16.

The arrival of September means college coaches are allowed to contact recruits directly by phone, and Minor has been getting his share of calls. "Georgia Tech, Michigan, Miami, Florida, Ohio State and a couple others have called," he said. "I talked to Coach Campbell from Michigan and we had a nice talk."

Varina kicked off the season on Friday with a 46-13 romp over Garfield. "I scored two touchdowns the first two times I touched the ball," he said. "I didn't play too much because we had 40 points in the first half." Minor scored on a two-yard run and also caught a 43-yard pass for a touchdown.

Minor was a first team All-Metro running back selection as a junior, and said while depth is something he will be looking at, it isn't something he is overly concerned about. He lists a top five of Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Michigan. "I may try and take one visit during the season," he said. "But most will be after and I'll decide around Signing Day."
