Official Visit List; Harvin; Junge Center

The huge Ohio State game weekend has 10 top official visits listed, plus 6 top unofficials (there will be more unofficial visitors of course, which we will bring you after the game). One top wideout got hurt Friday night and has cancelled/postponed. One place kicker is featured here as well. And -- here is GoBlueWolverine's complete unofficial list of all scheduled and taken official visits.

If you may be wondering why U-M is scheduling this big official visit weekend during the season, here it is: The Junge Family Champions (Recruiting) Center opened last weekend, for the Minnesota game -- and the Center is at the Big House, not at Schembechler Hall. Because of the Junge Center, we may see home game official visit weekends become a Wolverine staple.

Nov. 19 (Ohio State game) Visitors:

-- (confirmed visit) Tim Tebow QB 6'3 225 4.61 (38 bench press reps at Talahassee Nike) Jacksonville Nease Florida. Scout.com's #35 prospect lists Florida (the odds-on fav? ... Nov. 26 FSU game official visit), Michigan (Nov. 19 official visit), USC (Dec. 3), LSU (Nov. 4) and Alabama (Oct. 15) ... he has been to Florida, Alabama and LSU for unofficial visits. He visited U-M in the fall of '04 for the Northwestern game. He will announce on December 14th on ESPN television.

-- (confirmed visit) Carlos Brown RB 6'0 195 4.5 Franklin Heard Georgia. He says Florida State (Nov. 4), Georgia (Dec. 9), and Michigan (Nov. 18 for OSU game) will get official visits for sure. He is also looking at Georgia Tech, Auburn, and Tennessee. He plans to graduate in December. He is Scout.com's #24 South prospect.

-- (confirmed visit) Chris Wells 6'1 220 4.5 Garfield High, Akron, Ohio. Scout.com's #1 RB, #1 Midwest prospect, and #3 overall prospect, was an early OSU commitment. He also was an '04 U-M Camper. He will also make an official visit to USC.

-- **NEW** Injured, not coming Percy Harvin WR 5'11 182 4.34 Virginia Beach Landstown Virginia. Scout.com's #7 prospect. He hurt his leg in his Nov. 18 game and is on crutches -- visit postponed. The Wolverines (Nov. 18 official visit, for OSU game) are on it for Harvin, along with Miami (Nov. 26), Florida (Sept. 16, co-leader), and USC (Oct. 28, co-leader) and FSU. U-M's 'hook': Harvin's sister attends Eastern Michigan University. He will make a decision before Christmas.

-- (confirmed visit) Greg Mathews WR 6'4 185 Orlando Edgewater Florida. A four-day U-M Camper, the question for Mathews is how long will he wait for his favorite, Miami, to offer … the season is almost over and they still have not. Otherwise Michigan (Oct. 19 official visit, for OSU game) becomes the favorite. Could this be a case where Miami's needs don't include a big, strong possession WR whereas U-M would be glad to have a Florida version of a Jason Avant-type guy (only taller albeit not quite as fast)? Mathews also likes FSU, and he also lists OSU (he has family in Columbus and is a relative of the Ginns), Alabama, NC State, South Carolina.

-- (confirmed visit) Jim Barrie OL 6'5 295 5.10 Tampa Berkeley Prep Florida. The underrated Barrie's parents are from Grand Rapids Mich. and his sister attended U-M. Jim made a late July unofficial visit to Ann Arbor. FSU (Dec. 9 official visit) and U-M (Nov. 19 official visit, for OSU game) are his top 2, currently followed by Tennessee (Oct. 27) and Notre Dame (Nov. 5). His 5th official visit will be to Florida on either Nov. 25 (for FSU game) or in December (2nd or 17th). He will decide by Christmas. He has a 3.7 GPA.

-- (confirmed visit) Greg Banks 6'2 260 5.2 Denver Montebello. After watchbing his early Sept. film, U-M (Nov. 19 official visit for OSU Game) offered him and is an strong position. He also will visit UCLA, Cal, Notre Dame, and Washington (Dec. 2). He also had an Oklahoma offer. As a junior, he had 52 tackles, three sacks, three passes broken up, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception. He is Scout.com's #14 Midlands prospect. He will graduate in December and enroll in college in January.

-- (confirmed visit) Micah Johnson DL/LB 6'2 277 4.70 Fort Campbell Kentucky. Scout.com's #10 prospect. Johnson says Georgia (Sept. 10 official visit) and Kentucky are his current leaders, with Michigan (OSU game official visit) having a good shot, plus LSU and Louisville. Johnson has a 2.3 GPA and will take the ACT in November. The Army All American might make his announcement at the game.

-- (confirmed visit) Toryan Smith LB/RB 6'0 241 4.61 Rome Georgia. Scout.com's #91 Southeast prospect. He has already taken an official visit to Oklahoma (Sept. 3) and Notre Dame (Oct. 15), and has U-M scheduled for Nov. 18 (OSU game) and Florida (Nov. 26, the FSU game). He plans to visit UCLA after the season.

-- (confirmed visit) Thaddeus Gibson LB/DL 6'3 207 4.40 Euclid Ohio. Scout.com's #47 prospect. Will need to watch it academically (reported 11 ACT). Ohio State will be tough to beat, but Michigan (Nov. 19 visit for OSU game is set) is seriously involved, as is Tennessee (Dec. 3), PSU and Iowa; those are his final five.

-- (confirmed visit) Jai Eugene 5'11 185 4.45 Destrehan, Louisiana. He will take his official visits to Michigan (Nov. 19 OSU game), Miami (Jan. 29), Florida, Tennessee, USC. LSU is also right up there for him - in fact it'll likely be hard to get him out of the Bayou.

-- **NEW** (postponed visit - his team is still in playoffs, he'll reschedule for Dec.) McKenzie Mathews DE 6'2 240, Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, N.Y. He has scheduled an OSU game official visit. He has made visits to Pitt (Sept. 3, unofficial visit) and one to Ohio State (Oct. 14, official visit). He will visit U-M Nov. 18 (for OSU game) if his season is over. He may pick between Pitt and OSU, but he is also considering U-M and others. He is a friend of Wolverine RB Mike Hart. He is Scout.com's #36 East prospect. Christian Brothers is coming off a perfect 2004 season, outscoring opponents 611 - 197. Mathews recorded 45 tackles, including 10 for loss, and 12.5 sacks, during the championship season. He would like to major in accounting.

He is one of those guys who are totally tight-lipped about his recruiting process (there are many of this type this year!) The top student also lists Virginia Tech, Miami, Georgia, Boston College, Rutgers, Iowa, Ohio State, U-M was his first official visit, so it could be a while before U-M's chances with him become real clear.
