Dominique Douglas To Visit Saturday

Dominique Douglas came into the season as one of the top sleepers in the state of Michigan, but after a spectacular season for Detroit Murray-Wright, the sleeper tag is likely being removed from Douglas' name. Has an offer been extended to Douglas from the Wolverines, and might that change up his stance on his favorites?

Coming into the season, Dominique Douglas was viewed mostly as a MAC prospect, receiving attention from teams like Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green.

But after a season in which Douglas hauled in 86 passes and scored an impressive 25 touchdowns, the 6-foot-1 185-pounder has started receiving attention from many of the top programs in the Midwest, including Michigan and Ohio State along with a host of other Big Ten clubs.

He has already received offers from EMU and Bowling Green, along with Cincinnati. Has a Michigan offer now come through?

"No, no official Michigan offer yet. I was supposed to come up to the game against Indiana, but I had an emergency that kept me back. I'll definitely be making it up for the game against Ohio State though," said Douglas.

Is he expecting an offer to come when he visits this weekend for "The Game" with the Buckeyes?

"I don't know, we'll see. I talked to Coach [Erik] Campbell the other day, and he's real excited about me coming up, and he said Coach [Lloyd] Carr is real excited to meet with me as well and talk to me. I'll be meeting with the coaches sometime after the game."

Could an offer from the Wolverines possibly push Douglas towards Ann Arbor and make him a Michigan lean?

"I don't know for sure, we'll have to see on that. For now anyway, until it happens, I'm just keeping my options open and waiting to see what is out there."

Still no favorites then? "No, I'm going to say no favorites yet," stated Douglas, who nevertheless sounds extremely enthusiastic about the possibility of garnering an offer from the Wolverines.

As for a decision timetable, Douglas appears in no rush to make his college choice known. Detroit Murray-Wright coach Andre Harlan stated that Dominique has a visit set up to Eastern Michigan for the first weekend of December (Dec. 2nd), but beyond that he hasn't committed to visiting officially anywhere else, although Ohio State is talking to him about the December 9 weekend. If Michigan comes forward with an offer then a Wolverine visit could be in the offing for either of these weekends.

Besides Michigan, Ohio State, and the other teams that have made offers, Michigan State, Illinois, Wisconsin and Purdue have all expressed interest in the 185-pound defensive back/wideout. But for now, Douglas appears focused on and excited to get to witness the Wolverines go head-to-head with the Buckeyes for what could be a share of the Big Ten title in front of 110,000-plus.

Stay close on this one – depending on what happens with Greg Mathews and Percy Harvin this weekend, something could well happen with Douglas ... maybe in December, maybe in January.
