Jashaad Gaines Firm on Notre Dame

Growing up a Michigan fan but being spurned by the Wolverines until after making his pledge to Notre Dame, Las Vegas safety Jashaad Gaines briefly entertained recent interest from Michigan. However, the three-star prospect reaffirmed his commitment, and told GoBlueWolverine.com he will not visit Ann Arbor.

Safety Jashaad Gaines of Las Vegas, Nev., High School grew up a Michigan fan and wanted more than anything else to play football in the Winged Helmet. However, Michigam showed little interest until recently, but the 6-foot-0, 205-pouund three-star prospect had already committed to Notre Dame. Gaines briefly considered visiting he childhood favorite, but told GoBlueWolverine.com that he is firm with The Fighting Irish. "No, I won't be visiting Michigan," Gaines said. "I haven't told them yet, but I'm not having anything to do with that, I'm solid with Notre Dame and will sign with them."

Las Vegas will play Hug High School of Reno on Saturday for the Nevada 4A State title. The Wildcats took out defending State Champ Palo Verde 6-0 on Nov. 26. Las Vegas brings a 13-1 record into the final game, with the only loss being their opening game match against Pine View of Utah.
