For once the tables were turned and Michigan football was on the receiving end of the shocker when running back Carlos Brown of Heard County High School in Franklin, Ga., chose the Wolverines after informing the U-M coaching staff that he had dropped them and would choose between Georgia and South Carolina. The surprise was not limited to the high school football recruiting circles.
"I had no idea what he was going to do," Brown's mom told GoBlueWolverine.com. "I was just as shocked as anybody when he told me it was Michigan."
"He has talked before about going away for school, but said he was going to stay home."
"It's a long way for him to go but if that's what he wants to do, he needs to do it."
Brown has filled out his University of Michigan application and will enroll in Jan. and be able to practice with the team when spring drills begin.
"We're just real happy and proud of him," Mrs. Brown said.
