Brandon Minor Profile

Brandon Minor told us back in the summer that he had grown up a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. He was hoping to get a chance to check out the school in person at that time but he was unable to make that happen because of his schedule He took an official visit to UM this past weekend, however. "It went good I though," Minor said. "It was the first time I had ever been to Miami so it gave me a chance to see what it's really like there. You see them on TV and everything but being there gives you a different look." Minor, 6-feet and 221 pounds, talked more about what happened on the visit. "We went for an academic tour and then watched practice and then ate dinner," he said. "We did that two days in a row. I also met with the running backs coach and we watched some film. Then at the end I talked to the head coach about some things."

Based on that, Minor came away with a couple impressions. "I really liked the coaches and players," he said. "They're all good people. I hung out most with (Brandon) Meriweather and (Jon) Beason. The practice was good -- they were doing a lot of hitting."

The standout running back, who is a full academic qualifier, had a meeting with UM head coach Larry Coker at the end of the visit. "He was just telling me what's going on," he said. "They had some other running backs in for visits and I know they got some good ones on the team now. I told him I don't care if I'm going to play for the New York Giants, nobody is gonna scare me away. He's a real cool dude."

Minor, who has previously visited Tennessee and Michigan, asked about the difference between the visits. "At Tennessee it was real crazy because of the atmosphere for a game," he said.

"Michigan was real nice. I loved it there. I got a chance to spend a lot of time with the players and they were my team growing up too."

Minor plans on taking one last visit (Virginia Tech on Jan. 20) before making a final decision. "It's pretty much even up right now," he said. "I'm still looking at Michigam, Miami, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech. I'll know for sure after my last visit to Tech."

Minor only started three games as a senior because of an injury but still rushed for 461 yards and 10 touchdowns.
