Instate DE Quintin Woods Coming In For Purdue

GoBlueWolverine talked to the mother of Flint defensive end Quintin Woods, one of the two (along with OLSM's Aaron Gant) hot sleeper prospects in the State of Michigan. Woods is coming in earlier than expected. And, BTW, he's NOT 6-foot-6 ...

Quintin Woods is a 6-foot-6, 225 pound defensive end prospect, with a reported 4.6 sec. 40, from Flint Southwestern Academy.

GBW spoke to Quintin's mother this morning.

Is Quintin planning to visit Michigan?

"He is supposed to come to Michigan to see the basketball game on January 7th (the Purdue game). He was also there for a football game this fall, the Ohio State game."

Does he plan to make other visits?

"He also plans to visit Iowa, Michigan State, and Missouri."

As to Quintin not having played football, she said:

"He has played football before. I know it's been said that he hasn't played football, but that's not correct. He played his 9th and 10th grade years. He just focused on basketball last year ... I wanted him to play basketball. Then he played football again this fall."

And what a season he had: over 100 tackles, and 18 sacks.

So is a Michigan scholarship in Woods' future?

"Coach Fred Jackson has been in here ... he told Quintin he'll get a scholarship offer from Coach Carr when he visits, if he wants one."

So, he's a 6-6 defensive end?

"No. Actually, he's grown ... he's 6-7."

Right now Woods' official visit is scheduled for Jan. 20, with Iowa Jan. 13 ... we'll see if that Jan. 7 unofficial visit date turns into something else ...
