GBW Talks to Top Pennsylvania Wide Receiver

While the Conestoga Valley High School struggled this season, the Buckskins' wide receiver Ty Bynum turned in a spectacular season, garnering Pennsylvania All-State honors. The speedy WR took some time to talk with GBW's correspondent Gene Hankerson.

While the Conestoga Valley Buckskins struggled this season, going 1-9, wideout Ty Bynum turned in a spectacular season. Bynum initialy burst onto the scene his sophmore year, hauling in 31 passes for 477-yards, including three touchdowns. He managed to out do himself in 2005, by catching 71 balls for a little over 1200-yards, including 10 touchdowns. The speedy WR took some time to talk with GoBlueWolverine.

First, congratualtions on making the All-State team. How does it feel to be recognized as one of the best players in Pennsylvania?

"Thank you. I'm honored to be one fo the few juniors on the All-State team, it is a accomplishment that I will use to motivate me to achieve bigger and better things."

So how have you been doing since the season ended?

"I've been doing good as far as keeping my grades up and lifting every day and working out."

Are you participating in any other sports?

"I'm playing basketball, but I also run track."

Do you play any position on the fiels besides WR?

"I play corner, and handle the kick and punt returns."

Lets talk recruiting for a bit. Are you starting to get many from any schools?

"Yes, I'm collecting letters on a daily basis."

What schools are contacting you?

"Indiana, UConn, Virginia, Northwestern, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Purdue, Syracuse and Michigan are some of them."

Are you interested in any certain school?

"As of right now, I'm interested in any division 1 program."

Would you like to play college ball close to home?

"I would like to play out of state."

Have you gone to any camps or visited any schools?

"I haven't been to any camps. I visited Maryland with my former teammates that are now attending Maryland (Jordan Steffy, Stephen Smalls)."

What position do you want to play in college?

"Probably wide receiver."

Did you grow up a fan of any school?

"Florida State."

Keep an eye out for Ty Bynum, as he will be a highly coveted player. He plays in the ever popular Lancaster-Lebanon League, that will also produce Manheim Township quarterback Pat Bostick.
