Michigan Wolverines Invade the Alamo

After a couple hours of delays getting out of the Detroit airport, the Michigan football team arrived at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter late Thursday night, to a small but enthusiastic crown of well-wishers. And of course GoBlueWolverine was there.

With a mariachi band blaring and bowl officials and die-hard Wolverine fans greating them and chearing them on, Head Coach Lloyd Carr led his Michigan football team into the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel, on the beautiful Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio, Texas.

The Michigan contingent announce the Wolverine practice schedule. They will treat this as a normal 'game week', meaning Friday is 'a Monday' - a day which will likely be used for watching film. The Wolverines will practice on Saturday, with Sunday a day off for Christmas.

And how do Michigan fans feel about being in San Antonio for Christmas instead of Tampa for New Years? Here are comments collected by GBW:

"We got stiffed, but we're here so let's get a victory."

"Will we finally settle the 1997 controversy? Nebraska isn't really the same program, is it?"

"Nebraska has nothing to lose in this game, but we have our backs to the wall and should play a great game."

"This is the start of the 2006 season."
