All Recruits' Visits This Weekend

With instate DE Quintin Woods visiting Michigan this weekend, here is what ALL other remaining Michigan recruits are doing this weekend as well -- two are getting ready to announce next week (one could well pick Michigan!) -- maybe a third as well!

**NEW** -- Brandon Minor RB/FB 6'2 208 4.75 Richmond Varina Virginia. Scout.com's #38 East prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: Staying home -- getting ready to announce next week!

He announces next week (week of Jan. 15) between U-M and Tennessee. His official visits: Tennessee (Oct. 7), U-M (Dec. 9), Miami (Dec. 16 official visit - dropped them), and a final visit to Virginia Tech (Jan. 20 - cancelled). As a junior he ran for for 2,091 yards and 30 touchdowns; a torn hip flexor has interrupted his senior season, but he returned for the final couple games of the season. He says, "Michigan was my favorite team growing up." U-M is in a strong position here, and GBW is cautiously optimistic.

-- Sam Young OL 6'7 295 5.00 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas Florida. Scout.com's #7 prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: either at Notre Dame, or at home ... better for U-M if he's in South Bend!

A mid-December U-M in-home visit put the Wolverines back in play. He has scheduled January visits -- Notre Dame Jan. 13, Penn State Jan. 20, and Michigan last, Jan. 27. He also visited USC the Dec. 16 weekend. *Is he suddenly narrowing things down some, and dropping a school-or-schools???* Especially if he is not at Notre Dame this weekend, then he'd likely reschedule some and drop others ... He did visit U-M once before, just before the start of the '05 Summer Camp.

-- Steve Schilling OL 6'4 290 Bellevue Washington. Scout.com's #4 prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: Washington.

His visits: Michigan (Dec. 2), USC (Dec. 16, cancelled/postponed due to illness), Cal (Dec. 9) and Washington (Jan. 14) are his top 4. He has rescheduled USC for Jan. 20 ... will he take it ... maybe, maybe not. This just might be a U-M/Cal battle now. He visited Michigan May 22-23, and Lloyd Carr visited the school in the winter of 2004/05.

-- Daron Rose OL 6'5 290 5.00 Tampa Jefferson Florida. Scout.com's #42 Southeast prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: South Carolina.

Rose visited the Dec. 2nd weekend. He had a great visit, and has 'a feel' for U-M, but has three more to go: South Carolina ( Jan. 13), Florida (Jan. 20), FSU (Jan. 27), and he also visited South Florida (Dec. 16) ... U-M and FSU probably lead.

-- Adam Patterson DE 6'3 262 4.65 Columbia Richland Northeast South Carolina. Scout.com's #33 East prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: Tennessee (their biggest weekend -- in fact this is The South's biggest recruiting weekend in general).

Michigan has long had an interest in Patterson, a 2004 U-M Camper, and he graced GBW's Best Guess lists through the summmer and fall ... he visited Jan. 7 weekend but didn't commit -- although he told GBW that he had a GREAT visit. His visits: U-M (Jan. 7), Tennessee (Jan. 13), NC State (Jan. 20) and Auburn (Jan. 27). He was a 2004 U-M Camper.

-- McKenzie Mathews DE 6'2 240, Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, N.Y. He is Scout.com's #62 East prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: staying home -- he does have a visit next weekend.

He has made visits to Pitt (Sept. 3) and to Ohio State (Oct. 14), as well as U-M (Dec. 9), and he also plans to visit Boston College Jan. 20, then make his decision. Pitt and U-M lead currrently. For his senior season he recorded 107 tackles, 10 sacks, one interception and 17 tackles for loss. He is a friend of Wolverine RB Mike Hart. He had 26 sacks his senior season. Mathews would like to major in accounting.

-- Thaddeus Gibson LB/DL 6'3 207 4.40 Euclid Ohio. Scout.com's #47 prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: Ohio State -- announcing next week.

He had a great U-M official visit on Nov. 19, but will need to watch it academically (reported original 11 ACT, up to 15 now). HIs visits: Michigan, Tennessee (Dec. 9, has family there), Ohio State (Jan. 13) -- he'll announce next week. Is it a OSU-Tennessee battle, with U-M 3rd? Regardless, OSU likely leads now.

-- Safety Aaron Gant 6'0 200 4.5 Orchard Lake St. Mary's Michigan.

-- Doing this weekend: Ohio State (U-M next week).

He had a visit scheduled to Iowa for the Dec. 16 weekend -- but U-M offered (U-M was in his school Wednesday Dec. 14) and got this visit switched to the Wolverines. It was an unofficial visit since he is waiting for his first test score. His visits: Washington Jan. 7, OSU Jan. 13, U-M Jan. 20. Is OSU real competition for him? Gant played OLB and FB for OLSM, and had an excellent senior season -- but he is projected as a safety in college.

-- Jonas Mouton S 6'2 212 4.50 Venice California. Scout.com's #48 prospect.

-- Doing this weekend: safe in his bed ... visits done, announcing whenever he wants to.

He made his U-M official visit for Sept. 10 for the ND game. U-M and USC (Dec. 2) are his final two, and he has made his decision, just not announced it. GBW is cautiously optimistic about the Army All-American. He also visited LSU (Oct. 14 official visit; he grew up in the Bayou), Nebraska (Sept visit) and Cal (Dec. 9). He is friends with Eugene Germany and, especially, Chris Richards. A Venice coach was one of the coaches at the U-M camp this summer.
