Quintin Woods is Michigan Commitment No. 16

Just days after his visit to Michigan, the Flint Southwestern defensive end announces his commitment to the Wolverines -- becoming U-M's No. 16 verbal commit.

Flint Southwestern Academy defensive end Quintin Woods made his official visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend and the Wolverines put on a full court press to bring him into the fold. After returning home, the 6-foot-6, 218-ponder indicated that he really enjoyed his trip, but that he hadn't yet made a decision. In reality, though, he had already determined where he'd spend his college years. It just wasn't the proper time to announce it to the media.

"I actually committed to Michigan on my visit," Woods said. "It came down to me just going down there and seeing how it was in person and seeing if I really fit in and liked it. I just didn't want to say anything because I hadn't let the other coaches know yet."

Woods' outstanding athleticism makes him a prime candidate to see action on either side of the ball. However, at this point he has a plan for where he wants to line up. "They asked me if I would like to play tight end," Woods said. "They didn't make it official or anything. I'm playing defensive end. That's what I prefer."

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Woods in the coming days.
