Jonas Mouton Clears the Air Regarding Rumors

It's rumor-time, and safety Jonas Mouton of Venice, Calif., High School addressed the latest ones regarding his recruiting. Also, he is considering taking one more official visit.

It's rumor-time in the recruiting world, with the top hoaxes usually involving a player who is decommitting or a top prospect that has dropped a school from his list. The latter is the case for safety Jonas Mouton of Venice, Calif., High School, who told on Thursday that nothing has changed.

"I have not dropped any school from my list," he said. "I'm really getting tired of all of it, but I haven't decided where I want to go."

Mouton has stated for some time that he has a favorite, though he hasn't publicly announced the name of the school. "That hasn't changed at all," he confirmed. The finalists for the five-star standout are LSU, Michigan, and USC.

However, one school has jumped into the mix, and has caught the attention of the No. 6 safety in the nation according to "The Texas defensive backs coach was at my school today," Mouton said. "He told me that they had just heard of me, and that they need safeties and want me to visit this weekend. I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to visit or not."

The Mouton's are making this decision a family affair. His mom told GBW that they had a family meeting Thursday morning. "Jonas really is struggling with this decision," Duran Mouton said. "We sat down again (Thurs.) morning and went over the schools on his list and what he wants to do. He just needs to think about things some more."

Duran Mouton is a University of Texas graduate, but said that has no bearing on what her son will do. "The decision is his," she said.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Mouton said that while he has a list of three finalists, two are recruiting him the hardest. "Michigan and USC are definitely coming at me hard," he said. "LSU has kind of dropped off a bit recently, but they are still in it."
