Running back Brandon Minor of Richmond, Va., Varina High School, Scout.com's No. 38 East prospect, announced his decision, picking Michigan over Tennessee, at a news conference at 1:45 p.m. today at his school.
Minor visited Michigan on the Dec. 9 weekend, and he visited Tennessee in October. He also visited Miami, and dropped a scheduled Jan. 20 visit to Virginia Tech.
Michigan had been in a strong position here for several weeks, and Minor actually made his decision about 10 days ago; GoBlueWolverine had been optimistic about his decision.
As a junior Minor ran for for 2,091 yards and 30 touchdowns as Varina went 10-1. A torn hip flexor interrupted his senior season in the first game, but he returned for the final two games of the season. In three games he ran for 500 yards and 10 touchdowns for the 9-1 Blue Devils.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Minor also has a 350 pound bench press, a 38-inch vertical jump, and a 4.2 second shuttle.
Minor, a member of USA Today's Top 100, maintained all along that, "Michigan was my favorite team growing up."
